Item Description: Budget Compliance for Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office - offered by Commissioner Conley Resolution: BE IT RESOLVED, that the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is not authorized to exceed the 2026 board authorized expenditure authority for their department or staffing complement, as measured by Full-Time Equivalents, without prior County Board approval; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in 2026 the County Administrator is directed to provide the County Board with monthly reports outlining monthly expenditures, staffing levels and total year-to-date expenditures compared to year-to-date budget; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in 2026, if the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office expenditures exceed their year-to-date budget, the County Administrator and Chief Human Resources Officer are directed to not authorize external posting for positions or hire new employees in the Sheriff’s Office, except for Detention Deputies serving directly within the Adult Detention Center, Telecommunicator positions, and other positions critical for the HCSO to meet its statutory mandates; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in 2026, if the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office expenditures exceed their year-to-date budget, the County Administrator is directed to provide the County Board with monthly hiring updates that identify the positions the HCSO has been authorized to hire.

hennepin county sheriff's office racked up $1.3 million in overtime in jan 2026. commissioner angela conley says they could overspend budget by $15 million+ this year if they don't change course. today county board unanimously passed a BAR conley introduced that sheriff cannot exceed their budget!

Minneapolis repitching multi-million first responder center, state dollars in jeopardy Minneapolis community safety leaders are repitching a multi-million-dollar plan for a new training and wellness center just months after it was rejected by the council.

We don’t have money to house people, or pay people’s rents or keep schools open and safe from masked goons but we have money for a cop training facility? For what? MPD failed to keep Minneapolis safe and two people died for their failure and our schools were raided.

Federal agents at powderhorn park

This morning, federal agents staged at the Powderhorn Park Recreation Center lot and began to throw chemical irritants at observers. They also kidnapped an observer. Our parks are meant for our children, youth, and neighbors. They should never be militarized zones meant to separate families. 1/

journalist georgia fort was arrested by the feds this morning for filming the church protest in st. paul where an ICE agent is the pastor. nekima levy-armstrong and chauntyll allen were already arrested for organizing it

Here is a video taken just this morning of ICE pepper spraying my friend who was standing several feet away, and behind a fence, from agents attempting an abduction.

Nothing about their conduct has changed. We need to continue our observations but please do so as safely as possible.

Legal observers at the Whipple Federal Building witnessed ICE agents swapping out license plates in the ICE staging location. Masked agents who already routinely refuse to identify themselves are now swapping license plates at whim to kidnap our neighbors and tear apart families.

Celeste Robinson, Minneapolis Ward 2 council office, urging "serious public health conversation" about the racially disparate impacts, getting beyond "air quality" as an abstraction. This is about life expectancy, brain development, heart attacks, strokes, that "parts per million" doesn't capture.

To clarify: her crime was witnessing ICE kidnap her neighbors.
