Currently holding off, not putting off, sewing a button back on my mum’s leather jacket that I’ve been borrowing for tw-thre-ever years.
As it seems to have a type of nuisance tier curse on it where each time a button is reattached a new one pops loose.
Local witch really cooked with this one imo.

It’s crazy how without any real sense of why I know it, I do know that barbenheimer was the last hurrah for millennial cultural dominance.

I think the computer without a screen plugged in is a decent analogy, like just because there isn’t visual representation doesn’t mean the work itself isn’t happening. I have strong spatial reasoning, pretty necessary for my job. It’s an interesting phenomenon though!

I have aphantasia (no internal visuals at all) and a massive preference for third person. I’m but one data point and an old one at that, so who’s to say.

As AI enters the operating room, reports arise of botched surgeries and misidentified body parts Medical device makers have been rushing to add AI to their products. While proponents say the new technology will revolutionize medicine, regulators are receiving a rising number of claims of patient ...

When AI was added to a tool for sinus surgery: “Cerebrospinal fluid leaked from one patient’s nose. In another… a surgeon mistakenly punctured the base of a patient’s skull. In two other cases, patients suffered strokes after a major artery was accidentally injured”

Additionally to this phenomenon is the ways in which having a job, has blurred and complicated the idea of what you’re held responsible for. I think people are forced to surrender their sense of responsibility/ownership to the imperative of holding down a job. LLMs outputs simply exacerbates this.

There's a thing about people at work using AI, because like it obviously sucks and we are SME's. But also there's this thing where they both get to be seen to be contributing, whilst also being able to distance themselves from their contributions, never being held responsible in either direction.

This is something I've been bringing up at every fancy schmancy imaging event where this stuff gets touted, without auditor level QA on the input data, and doubly effortful QA on the outputs, it's just bias automation the redux.

I love that Wikipedia's edit history is public because it only takes two clicks to get to the very first version of the "ant" article in its entirety from 2001. Happy 25th birthday Wikipedia! You've come so far

There's something so brilliant about Mad Men, where the first watch is a gripping drama, and the rewatch is the greatest comedy of all time.
