Yeah right.

I started with race as that’s what the discussion was about but I have never suggested a certain race shouldn’t be allowed to participate in my view of what society should be like.
“Yet people like you think that they shouldn’t be able to shine their light around. That there should be no role model available to drive aspiration”
Absolutely not true. I’m delighted to hear what you say about your kids
I have
“people like you who say that a certain race/sex/sexual persuasion shouldn’t be allowed to participate in your view of what society should be like”
I have said no such thing!
Stop putting words in my mouth
I don’t like overreaction exaggeration overegging arguments.
It doesn’t help and in this case doesn’t help the minorities affected.
I am quietly commenting not vigorously complaining. But I would quietly comment if all perfume ads just featured white models and it had come up for discussion on here and hit my feed.
Although I am generally opposed to wealth taxes as feel they will result in less tax take and harm growth of economy it does seem outrageous that one man can demand a pay package of 1000billion dollars.

You carry on living in your bubble. I’m getting out of here. I’m sure you will welcome my departure.
🤷♂️ I was responding to other people’s talk about the colour of people in adverts. I didn’t bring the topic up in first place.
I take it you are in the health sector as I was. Yes such figures are appalling. But need calm careful solutions not anger.
As owner of a healthcare business I can tell you such behaviour as reported in Guardian today would not have been tolerated and instigators immediately sacked.
I’m not focussed on skin colour by any means. It’s the focus on skin colour by the advertisers that has created this situation. You’re not telling me that the advertisers just randomly ended up with so many black actors featuring in adverts. It is they who deliberately chose/focussed on skin colour.
You need to calm down! Talk about outrage. It’s not me who is outraged or exhibiting outrage.
Not at all. We should try to have fair representation. It’s a fairly sensible view I’d have thought. If confronting something in the way you believe we should has opposite effect to what you wish would happen perhaps it’s you who should reconsider tactics.
Where have I expressed outrage? On anything?
in certain roles eg mainstream drama acting, leaders of large companies etc
I am saying that deliberately over representing them will likely have the opposite effect than that intended.
I agree but was not saying that many racists will be angered by it.
Fair representation is most likely to help minorities. And yes that applies to the over representation of whites ….
It’s the statement “Fuck em” that is rather off putting. Otherwise you are appearing polite but is that just on the face of it and really you are considering me an ignorant obnoxious old bastard. I’m not btw! Perhaps we could have a pint in Manchester some time?
Advertisers use data I’m pretty certain. Even if sexiness is in the eye of the beholder there will be data on what types of people are considered the sexiest. All I’m saying is maybe (just maybe) advertisers take this into account. As they take other data on what appeals into account.
That include me? If so please stop our discussion. I’m trying to be polite with you and to understand where you are coming from.
I’m obviously not deciding that merely doubting.
It’s a nonsense that you can’t say that one racial group possesses features that are more common in that group. Black men are more likely to suffer prostate cancer. Are we not allowed to mention that for fear of being regarded racist?
Are you actually listening with an open mind to anything I am saying? Can you not see the point about the reactions being counterproductive?
You clearly didn’t read the caveat I clearly mentioned
I am participating in a discussion about over representation of black people in adverts.
I said maybe they are by which I meant maybe the advertisers think they are and therefore will have more appeal to those they want to sell their products to.
I doubt many black people would be offended by the thought that advertisers considered them more sexy than white people or Asians.
My views have not marginalised others in the slightest.
I feel it is counterproductive to aims to ensure minorities are not marginalised to overegg the solution. Get minorities roughly equal in representation but not over represented which clearly winds up the very people you are trying to change.
Give me one example from what I have said that indicates that I personally am a racist.
Was that the intention when it started up? I’d prefer a site that encouraged healthy, respectful and friendly debate and insisted that only those willing to be identified and to prove their identity could participate. Most toxicity I see is from anons.
No I wouldn’t. I abhor racism. I can’t help how others see me though. That is a different matter.
This platform is almost entirely composed of left wing people firing off comments into an echochamber and insulting anyone who dares to challenge them.
