They yammered for a solid hour after over cheeseburgers and over game messaging for days after. Good job Nintendo.

I got a 20 minute nap towards the end. My 10 y/o and his buddies were ecstatic.
A funny Pogo daily is up for sale from a bookseller:
Virtual Book Fair from the ABAA: Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America fairs.abaa.org/item/1733597...
What a delight, thanks for pointing me to that.
Of course! I've heard many a tale from ME, but not that one.
That sounds fabulous. I'll ask my resident Garfield historian (my 10 y/o) if he knows where I can see this and show me.
... James Earl Jones?

Charlie Brown, wearing a space suit and helmet, peers out a large window in the side of a small space ship as it travels through clouds pointed toward a distant moon or planet. A caption reads: "When you collect rocks and minerals, you can always be sure of one thing — there are more to be found somewhere ... even out of this world!"
Just ran across this great image, probably not by Schulz, but it's fun: Charlie Brown in a spaceship.
From Charlie Brown's Super Book of Things to Do and Collect, 1975.
Dumb. Looks like a great 8-page tabloid-sized line-up of comics. I'd be mad too!
Here's the final(?) Sunday comic section:

Slavery and Treason: Buried in the same grave.
I've not seen Gary Cooper make this face before. LOL
Cool! Wow! Hey, @washingtonpost.com, where can I learn more about what books I may want to read?? New books come out all the time. It's hard to keep up! Maybe if some of your good writers could write about books regularly in a dedicated section just about that, that would be cool. Just an idea!
They worked on these stories for the comic books up until around 1960-ish, and the art was in Schulz's studio with one of his assistants.
Most probably art by Dale Hale, but possibly Tony Pocrnich or both. I have Tony Pocrnich working at the Schulz Studio by 1960, but he *could* have been there in 1959. I'd be certain that was Sparky's gag about petting birds. Otherwise, he would have never used it in the strip.
Schulz *did* do a "your mother wears army boots" gag in the Sunday strip for 9/05/1993.
Deb, that's a find!
Nat, that's an amazing find.
Same ... for now. Comparing two of the existing English collected editions, I much preferred the b/w one. I'll wait and see about the Fanta one. They do such good work, generally, I'll certainly give it a look.

In a daily Peanuts comic strip, Snoopy, as an astronaut atop his doghouse in a full astronaut flight suit and helmet, pilots his craft near the moon, which is unseen. He says, "Here's the world-famous astronaut approaching the moon .." In the second panel he looks down, and says, "Fantastic!" In the third panel, he adds, "It looks like a dirty beach ..." In the final panel Snoopy thinks, "Or, has someone already said that?" Famously at the time, this was a quote from astronaut Jim Lovell during Apollo 8.
Fantastic!!

*SIGH*
In a Peanuts newspaper comic strip clipping, Lucy Van Pelt is alone and looks into the night sky, and in the first panel says, "Poets tell us that the answers to life can be found in the stars." In the next two panels, she looks silently into the star-filled sky. It is nearly all black with little white dots. In the final panel, she walks off, upset, and says, "Stupid poets!"
Life's answers ...
