I’ll be at #CSUN from Thursday afternoon through Friday this week! Come say hi.
Friday morning I’ll be doing a talk with Andrew Hedges on continuous #accessibility, so check that out.
And if you’ve read my book The Accessiblity Operations Guidebook, ask me for a sticker. 💚

I hope to see you tonight!
Check out this (free!) talk I’m doing with @segdeha.com in February, hosted by @pdxa11yux.bsky.social !
Looking forward to this!
Me (chronically ill): I’m just going to lie down and put on a quiet video while I try to head off this migraine
Also me (ADHD): Now would be a great time to look for live bootlegs of Refused songs from the late 90s

I'm so glad to finally be able to tell you about this book, which I had the privilege of reading early! It's the resource I've always wanted to point to when I get asked questions about doing user research with disabled folks. www.smashingmagazine.com/printed-book...
Something I wish liberals - and, for that matter, a lot of leftists - would internalize:
The goal is not to out-argue, disprove, fact-check, debate, or point out the inconsistencies or hypocrisies of fascists.
The goal is to defeat them.
When times are bad, help people.
When times are good, help people.
As an autistic trans person, this has been clear to me for a long time.
These people are extremely uncomfortable with happy, weird little guys existing.
Craft is something they are trying to take from you. Do not let them. Hold it with clawing fingers tightly against your beating heart and do not let it wilt.

I really appreciated this piece on queer cohousing, including the acknowledgement that it's out of reach financially for the majority of people. It sounds like a dream and I wish it was more accessible.
Thanks be to sanitation workers and others who are literally keeping us alive while our infrastructure collapses. 💚
Apple’s ‘liquid glass’ contrast hilarity is now a bullet on my post “I Don’t Care What Google or Apple or Whoever Did”

I'm so scared of cities. All those buildings so close to each other. You can go to the movie theater and a restaurant and the park while walking, in defiance of God. There are people you haven't met before. Sometimes there's a dog in a jacket
Tech companies will tell you to not bring politics to work. Then do this.
Airbnb is spending $1M in ads to attack opponents of Cuomo for not supporting short-term rentals.
Whether you're pro or anti-Airbnb, they shouldn't influence elections.

I’m so glad to hear that! 😊
No one is just their disability. Culture, socioeconomic status, location, etc are a part of the disability experience. This carries over into accessibility. It's important to think about when addressing access barriers. It's important to have voices in the field that aren't the usual seen in tech.
What if for once a product was accessible, not just compliant, but usable by default.
For once. As a treat.
This is the important information we’re tasked with providing our loved ones
The W3C Cascading Style Sheets home page, displayed in the standard blue, white, and gray. There's a highlight banner across the top and two columns of links to standards and news.
The same web page when viewed in Dark Reader. It's jumbled a bunch of blocks of brightly colored content, covering up the main page content and wrecking my eyes.
Not sure who at the CSS working group was responsible for making Dark Reader in Firefox trigger Nightmare Party Mode?
It’s infuriating how much a short outing and a coffee, pastry, or bubble tea helps my silly animal brain.
Also the book is called Little Bosses Everywhere and it’s fantastic so far.
My partner: Oh, what I meant is—
Me: Oh, I know what you meant, I just know a lot about the details and you’re going to hear them all now while you’re trying to get ready for bed, you’re welcome
Me: [Reading Bridget Read’s new book about MLMs]
My partner: you probably know enough about MLMs to start your own now. Can you make one that just targets MAGA folks?
Me: 🤓 Um, actually, MLMs are already designed to funnel cash into right wing politicals
