The longer you look at moss, the more incredible it gets. Here's a closer look at Slender Cruet-moss (Tetraplodon mnioides).

Cannot emphasize enough that, if you dislike doing the things academics do (reading, writing, developing and expressing opinions about things you've read) enough to try to make a chatbot do them for you, there are lots of actual humans who would be happy to take that unpleasant job off your hands

This annotated world map, featuring clade diagrams and in situ morphological images, illustrates evolutionary history reconstructions of Cupressus L., based on 1991 single-copy nuclear genes and plastid genomes.
Wu et al. use #phylogenomics to shed light on the complex evolutionary history of the #gymnosperm genus Cupressus, which shows East Asian–Tethyan disjunction.

Check out how an ancient hybridisation event between sections of Helianthemum helped us explain widely disjunct distributions and puzzling phylogenetic incongruences!

Exactly a year ago, I collected Pilularia minuta to cultivate in my lab. I left it at the bottom of the culture chamber, and today, I discovered it had become fertile.
Heterosporous ferns never fail to amaze me! 🌿
Green life in a drop of water (and a one-eyed, minute intruder). I just love how diverse green algae are shape-wise... and the rotifer is the cutest 💚
