Day 35: This Part is a joy to write. I need interesting, varied ways for different groups to come together via Protagonist 2, so I’m tapping my History studies in 2001 in Huddersfield Uni. Who knew the module on Labour Movements of the early 1900s would come in so handy 🤣

Day 34: Back to it! Part 3 for Protagonist 2 is underway. This part has been clear in my mind from the start and it’s already showing in the size of today’s chapter - it was big 🤣

Day 33: Part 2 for Protagonist 2 is complete. That last chapter is the biggest in the whole book, so far anyway. I have a feeling there’ll be a lot of big chapters for P2 of this carries on. I feel a strong connection to tell for this character.

Claims and ideas which happen to favour the ruling class don't dominate public life by accident. They're paid for by oligarchs and corporations then promoted by media outlets other oligarchs and corporations own. Once they've been drummed into our ears enough, they're internalised as "common sense".

Day 32: A solid 3k words worth of writing today, but there’s more in the chapter. I may take it back up this afternoon, but more likely tomorrow. This the main difference with multiple characters, cliffhanger chapters are more difficult to pull off.

Erased - Miha Mazzini A blog about my reading journey as I discover new authors and revisit old favourites.

'It's an incredibly emotional read; I really felt for Zala as she is on her own. She is a very strong character though and there's nothing more powerful than a mother fighting for her child'

Thanks Michelle, a wonderful review!

Day 31: I counted my other characters chapters wrong so my plan for today’s chapter with Protagonist 2 wouldn’t fit chronologically. So I had to improvise this chapter, which turned out a nice surprise. Tomorrow will be a big one to make up the mistake.

Day 30: Back to it. Last weeks writing was disjointed so I’m hoping for a steady 5 days flow. This section is so clear in my head that it almost feels too easy to write. I might have to throw something weird in to break it up 😋

I want to do it because my Mum was so excited about the book coming and now will never see it. Even though its audience might end up being small, I would be a shame for this book just to sit on my pc, gathering digital dust.

This will be a side quest of mine over the next few months while I write another book for the MA and complete my final module.

I’m starting to look properly at what needs to be done to self publish this book. It’s had an edit, but it’ll need one more pass. After that, it’s simply a case of loading the interior for the typeset to Reedsy, buying a cover from my usual creators (no AI!), and uploading it to Amazon, Kobo etc.

a train is going down the tracks with smoke coming out of the engine ALT: a train is going down the tracks with smoke coming out of the engine

I’ve just spent the morning sorting out the chapters of The Peculiar Journey of Cecil Tabiner. The annoying thing is I’ve just returned them to what they were originally, between 2-3k words of 12 chapters per 3 parts. I have no clue why I changed it to 20 per Part. I don’t even remember doing it 🤷🏼‍♂️🤣

‘Safeguarding via algorithm’: Coventry doubles down on Palantir ties with new £750,000 contract

Coventry Council says more Palantir please!

The council’s children’s services contract with the US surveillance firm caused an outcry.

Now the deal has been renewed, with a 50% price rise and a new campaign to "kick Palantir out of Coventry" reports Max Colbert @mc00.bsky.social

Day 29: All is going well. Not much to tell today. The story is going exactly as I wanted it to do, which is a triumph of planning or experience in writing books or both. This seems easier than writing an 90k+ novel with only one POV. Let’s see how it turns out in 2 months time 😋

I loved the eerie, ethereal and dream-like quality of how this story was told. It was like a modern gothic horror.

Despite the rumours and whisperings about Janet and her mum, Alex can't help but fall under her spell and be both scared and fascinated by her at the same time.

The horror aspect is subtle, with a growing atmosphere of suspension, dread and unease. Everything builds towards the final few chapters where we learn the truth about Janet and her mum at the same time as Alex.

I really enjoyed the descriptions of Janet's ancient family house and the surrounding woods that seem to come to life and be both welcoming and dangerous at once.

I couldn't help rooting for Janet and Alex and feeling their anger towards the school (and grown up) bullies! The ending was brilliant!

Day 28: Part 2 for Protagonist 2 is underway. Now we’re getting to the real meat of her story. She’s already my favourite character in this novel and I’m only 6 chapters into her story.
