and if you enjoyed the short WNYC talk, maybe you'll enjoy this longer one with @sktchd.bsky.social in which I'm slightly less composed and spend far too long talking about how all kids have dirty buttholes. whoops! (this is on youtube as well if you prefer video)

Just finished reading this. I cried!!!! Really great and thoughtful insights about parenthood.. a lot of panels gave me feelings of great relief, thinking “thank God I’m not the only one who does this.” Definitely will be reading this one over and over.
while in New York last week for the release of Bury Me Already, I was on @allofitwnyc.bsky.social on @wnyc.org! you can listen to it here, and if you make it to the end, you'll even hear me cry just a tiny bit when Alison Stewart asked me about The End page in the book. www.wnyc.org/story/cartoo...
Bury Me Already comes out next week and some people said some nice things about it if you need some extra convincing to check it out. Here are some screengrabs from Publisher's Weekly, KQED and the AV Club. And if you're in NYC, come see me next week!! event details at juliawertz.com/events
I got sick of all the pregnancy and postpartum content that start how this comic does but ended by telling me I should love my body bc the miracle of birth and blah blah blah, so I made this. It's an excerpt from Bury Me Already (It's Nice Down Here)

Now that One Piece has a live action version, I’ve been enjoying trolling my family by calling it “that pirate documentary”

My “love-language” is borderline negging, but from a place of affection. It is not a recommended language for those who take themselves seriously. I fully understand that I am a ridiculous person, and I expect my loved ones to treat me accordingly
parental faux pas of the highest degree
I designed five exclusive postcards that you can have for freeeee if you preorder Bury Me Already (It's Nice Down Here) (or if you already preordered, you can put your receipt info into this page and get them!) www.hachettebookgroup.com/landing-page...

Cool stuff, buddy, keep it up, we’ve only got about an hour left
Julia's last book made me realize I had been functioning through lowgrade depression for a number of years (complimentary).
After working on a new book for the last 5 to 100 years or so, it’s finally done and it’s (almost) here! Bury Me Already (It’s Nice Down Here) comes out on April 14th 2026, but you can preorder it now. Save your receipt because preorders comes with a special gift! tinyurl.com/3jbs83s7
In case you’re looking for a fresh new catchphrase. I’ll post more overheards later but this one from last year stands alone

It’s creek season! I need some advice. (But first a comic from 2018 that my brother still razzes me about but I think is completely acceptable) I’m looking for water shoes w/ tread, durability & can be worn for light hiking and rock and tree scramblin’
Happy we have been an early witness to such greatness. Also happy my ancient car got us there in one piece.
I, hopeful fool
When pressed for more information, he simply stated, “you know, John Cena!” Okay, sure.

Napa library tomorrow! Panel from 10-11 and tabling 11-1!
One of my favorite then/now from Tenements, Towers & Trash because not much has really changed? The 1910 one has broadway show posters, coke ads, clothing shops and food in the storefronts. 2015 is basically the same (conceptually) except no food shops, and everything is uglier
