Laying off Andy Park is equivalent to asking Superman to leave the Justice League.

Wow.

Director of Visual Development Andy Park was laid off it has been announced. Andy was key to the success of the #MCU and his removal will be felt. Transiting to a work for hire model will save money but not improvement the films and is short sighted.

A goal of mine is to reach out to the people I know in the comics industry this year. I see that I’ve been in a professional isolation mode for who knows how long and it’s time to change that this year. So don’t be surprised if an email from me turns up in your inbox someday soon.

The famous "box battle" artwork that adorned many Generation 1 Transformers packaging from 1984-1986. Several Transformers are seen fighting against a space background with purple, blue, and red nebulae. The Transformers' robot forms are generally depicted as closer to the actual toy rather than the cartoon designs.

Toy packaging art from the 80s was unparalleled. When I was 6 years old this was the greatest thing I'd ever seen.

Cover B by Jacob Phillips for Of the Earth, a new Image Comic series out on May 20. The cover is a contrast of bright orange and deepest black. In that, we see the image of a face dripping with oil.

We are fast approaching FOC for my new @imagecomics.com with Charlie Adlard called OF THE EARTH. It's an intense eco-horror story - imagine Wake in Fright or Blood Simple meets Tremors and The Thing.

Anyway! I think it's good! I *think*! Please pre-order it at your LCS!

Of all the Energon Universe prelude mini series, I'd wondered when the story started in Scarlett would resurface and now we know. G.I. Joe 21. If you enjoy the action, characters, and weapons in this issue, pick up the Scarlett mini series fro the full backstory! You'll be glad you did.

The only way to not have Absolute Batman 19 spoiled for you is to stay off the internet & get to your comic shop as soon as possible. Maybe read it the car in the parking lot. This is another "what kind of series is this?" moment. This series never lets you get comfortable. Take nothing for granted.

Again, if Malevolent had come out after D'orc 1 it would have had a lot of eyes on it. Would those eyes have noticed that it really is a smart and intriguing series? I can't say, but it would have had more attention Wat can ya do? Issue 3 has a hilarious scene I wish everyone would see though.

The last two Godzilla Infinity Roar issues have had some absolutely wild action moments from cosmic chest bursting to weaponized surf boards. Godzilla is a serious problem to the Marvel Universe here, but some of these scenes are unforgettable.

I haven't seen Starfleet Academy so I almost didn't read Lost Contact, but it really is a solid sci-fi story where you don't have to know Star Trek at all. Cadets are deposited in an entirely controlled and simulated environment on a planet but not everything is controlled & they are not alone.

The Thundercats cartoon was always so vague. Is Third Earth another world or another age of regular Earth? Most importantly, Mumm-Ra has a Shazam-like element to him! Why was he invincible unless he caught sight of himself? Declan Shalvey gives the first origin I know of in Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living 1

Comic fans should make this weekly thread a must-read every Tuesday night.

Lots of shops post their NCBD walls every Wednesday (and I LOVE that), but Acme Comics offers up a little summary of the bigger books every single week.

I’ve got 22 comics to read ahead of new comic book day in a few hours so let’s get into it!

Orders on this were WAY higher than I expected, wow. Thanks to everyone, reader and retailer alike, who supports us and takes a chance on us. It means so much.

Sounds like another can't miss from @ashcanpress.com, but your store needs to know how many to request. If 15 people spoke up early & put in a preorder my science tells me that 20 more people would buy it if they saw it or meant to preorder but didn't so I should order 50 copies. Retail Science!
