Hannah added: “I get offended when I hear the argument made that it is working class. Working-class people are fed up with gambling companies being able to wreak havoc in people’s lives.”

The swifts have returned!
I was telling my hub how when I was a teenager mum had to ban me from reading Thomas Hardy books because they made me depressed. He looked at me, concerned, & said, “Those boy detective books?!! How did they make you depressed???!!!” To be fair, he was sort of dozing, so the confusion is excusable.
So I opened my FB account back in 2008, and like most people back then, I friend requested everyone I knew.
Imagine my surprise when I received a notification that one of those friends had accepted my request - yesterday. And yep, it’s the actual person.
Hold on tight!
My Dad, trying to describe Joel Dommett with a skateboard & backwards baseball cap:
"He looks like that cartoon on The Simpsons"
"That cartoon in a cartoon on The Simpsons"
Me: "...Poochie?!"

Due to the protest and the blocking of O’Connell Street, we are unfortunately unable to access the GPO tomorrow evening. We have made every effort to contact the organisers but have not been able to reach a lead contact. We have also spoken with the Gardaí, who currently do not have further information. With great sadness, we have to cancel tomorrow’s soup run, as we rely on access for our transit van and six cars. This is especially difficult given that we have been running this service outside the GPO for 11 years. We want to make it clear that we fully support the protest and understand the importance of standing up for change. We are also deeply concerned about the rising fuel costs and the lack of timely action. We hope that by next week we will have more information or be able to coordinate access so we can continue providing this vital service. Thank you for your understanding, and we stand with you.
The Muslim Sisters of Éire will not be able to provide their much appreciated soup run to folks in need due to the protest and the blocking of O’Connell Street.

Things that help calm the nervous system, quickly:
- Box breathing (in for 4, hold for 4, out for 4, hold for 4, repeat)
- Immerse your face in cold water (activates mammalian dive reflex)
- Humming (stimulates vagus nerve)
- Exercise (anything helps, outside even better)
- Impeachment and removal
I finished watching and it ended on a cliffhanger - AND WASN’T RENEWED
Okay apparently it’s set in Lancashire but it’s been filmed in West Yorkshire.

Man running through a spooky forest
Police station, dimly lit
Woman next to a car in a spooky forest
I’m watching ‘Passenger’, and sure, it’s a horror series, so it’s atmospheric and the like, but it’s certainly not the only spooky show set in West Yorkshire, it’s almost at the point of stereotyping.
Why is it that every tv show or film, set in West Yorkshire makes out that it’s absolutely bleak? All the interiors are always so dimly lit too.
Had had had??????
I was looking at some old maps earlier today. Despite living in an area that had had had an established village going back to 862, my street wasn’t even a thing until 1930. Even then, my house wasn’t built until 1935. It had always been woodland. So wild to think about.
I’m watching series 3 of ‘Hidden Assets’ & I’ve decided that Dónall Ó Héalai’s character Liam Boylan is the same Gardai he played in ‘Crá’ (Conall Ó Súilleabháin), but given what happened in that he’s got a new identity & is deep undercover in Dublin. Boylan is a Gaeilgeoir too - theory confirmed.
(I feel I should add - when I say he roared off, the punching guy pulled out of the traffic jam and went down a side street - we were all still caught in traffic for ages)
A slice of 1970s Aussie nostalgia. I think they made a bypass to avoid Nowra not long afterwards. I like to think that punch up had something to do with it.
