I’ll have to look, love the idea of one of these for van life. That and the work RV upfitters were doing was some of the most fun that got lost in the discontinuation

It’s absolutely incredible that one of the largest Japanese-run Go servers, which has been running since 1992, is still accessed entirely via Telnet. And while most players use GUI clients that use Telnet under the hood, you can still connect manually and get ASCII graphics streamed to you

It occurs to me only after the fact I wonder if they were thinking of old-Leaf derating or battery degradation in general, whoops

Yeah this specific problem only GM has afaik and iirc all their postbolt EVs have it. OldBolt has no such issues outside of “heat can build up when there’s no breeze” (and slow charging to begin with I suppose)

(Was chatting w/ a friend of a friend yesterday and they’re considering an equinox EV but were worried about it charging in the heat, which I think might be the hvac-during-DCFC thing? Funny what filters out as concerns for people)

It’ll, just idly, be interesting to see if people’s perception of equinox/mme/bz etc shifts as they get away from the “keep a gas or hybrid for longer trips” thinking.

A/o if it’ll turn out charging speed was always basically a nonissue and 20-40 minute stops aren’t that big a deal to most people

Don't you understand? The human race IS an endless number of monkeys. And every day we produce an endless number of words. And one of us already wrote Hamlet

I made it my life mission to reference this as many times as I can

Also like “I want my body to look some more or less attainable way and am working on making it happen” seems like such a basic bodily autonomy thing??

A political cartoon by Megan Herbert showing an assembly of renewable energy solutions - solar panels, battery storage, high speed rail, electrified truck freight, EVs and charging infrastructure, wind turbines, and bicycles - put together in a shape that resembles a military tank. A different approach to a massive increase in military spending that would increase Australia's security and sovereignty in times of global unrest.

Best defence.

Today is the busiest I’ve ever seen this charger. There was a Lexus here when I got in and then a bz pulled in after, both left and now there’s a lucid here.

Meme edit of a tweet. It reads: Editor: you get that painting of Lucifer and Jesus? Painter: Sure did boss, real fuckin sexy just like you asked. Editor: what

Underneath, an undeniably sexy oil painting of a nude Lucifer grinding up on Jesus from behind. His open hand gestures suggestively over Jesus'crotch.

The unique form factor and focused simplicity here is 100% the killer feature. Pecron will sell you 4kwh for like 1200 but that’s a huge box that doesn’t fit above/beside/behind a fridge (but does gain solar, say)

I love stuff like this because it takes th thing everyone tells you you can do with a power station and makes it The Point of a specific product that you install once and keep using until it needs to replaced in however many years

Tired: Companies spending billions to build data centers so AI can spread misinformation and create crappy doodles.

Wired: A company spending much less to restore a 93-year-old steam locomotive and running it 10,000 miles from Canada to Mexico and back.

I already love circle-K's existing locations, it'll be fun to see what an Ionna-CircleK co-location will look like. (I'm imagine teal HYC400s in front of a circle-k but maybe they'll be more creative, dunno.)

It’s always “are you on the spectrum?” and never “thank you for those incredibly specific and honestly fascinating rail infrastructure and history facts.”

(Not to mention EGMP fast charging)

<Alec voice> a certain group of enthusiasts </voice> probably aren’t helping given how often “you need home charging to have an EV” is still repeated. Even now that almost all new NA models are 250+ and charge decently

Time to start asking people how may H pumps there are in their town

It’s kinda wild how many people are completely unwilling to consider any potential adaptation or that things can change over time.

I also love how you can tell when a wikipedia page is being run by an annoyed owner of a specific piece of tech, e.g. the Equinox EV's page mentions that V2L on the Equionox EV 3RS was at least delayed through the endish of 2025 despite being promises for much earlier.

also: wow I hate how much every automaker seems to slow-walk every base trim. It happened with NuBolt and NuLeaf too

1 week ago 0 0 2 0

(oh the Equinox is way newer than I thought but introduction in 2024 basically coincides with killing the Bolt the instant they can "justify" it, I'll poke around further though.)

Not being sure about the financials it sure feels at minimum like being allergic to success
