I defended my dissertation last month and I submitted the final version of the dissertation yesterday.

It was a bumpy ride. Reading the my BlueSky diary feels very surreal now that it is all done. We will see what the future holds...

How I feel when I check BlueSky:

- Let me check if the whole world has already collapsed or is it still on fire?

- Ok, no collapse but we now have earthquakes in addition to fires.

From applause to accusation: the Kurds and the shifting direction of emotions The empire does not demand loyalty but conformity and obedience. When conformity is disrupted, that is, when the cost rises, those who were applauded yesterday can easily be declared “destabilizing.”

“Even hypocrisy requires a moral code”

New on @verfassungsblog.de with @lucatrenta.bsky.social

Using the Maduro raid as a starting point, we argue that abandoning legal justification may be more damaging to international law than stretching it.

In short: long live hypocrisy.

End: I submitted my thesis for evaluation today. The moment was very anticlimactic. However, once the realization of the thesis being out of my hands settled, I felt a relief that I had not felt in a very long time. 100% recommend (the relief, not the thesis). Fingers crossed for the last stretch.

Day 115-122: Days flew by... All is written, read, approved. There remains final formatting stuff, which will take some time. I still wish I had more time to tweak stuff to make it better, but I think it is he time to let go for now. I am submitting this thing next week.

Day 114 & 115: I finished drafting my conclusion. Weird feeling.
Now ten days of revision extravaganza awaits!

Days 112-113: I am half way done with the conclusion. Thankfully, my friends are helping with bibliography because this insane person did not use zotero...
I am in a weird state of disbelief and excitement about this. I do not want to feel like it is this important, but I feel that way regardless.

Days 110-111: Feeling a bit under the weather, but I have been working on the conclusion. Going good so far. Fingers crossed.

Day 101 to 109: I sent the revised last chapter to my supervisor, waiting for her comments. I am going over the rest of the thesis before writing the conclusion, taking notes of what I should address there. I am so excited, terrified, and emotional. It makes no sense, it feels silly.

Day 97 to 100: Two days of good progress followed by two days of family emergency. It was a sobering reminder of the fact that life never goes according to your plans, but as long as you have the privilege of being with your loved ones, you can find the solace you need.

Day 95&96: Another two challenging days. Constant but very slow progress. At least, I have reached to the final quarter of the chapter.

Day 94: It was a challenging day because I am very late (surprise!). Yet, I have made a bit of progress today, which means there is hope :)

Day 88 to 93: Well, I got sick. It sucks but I feel better now to go back to writing. I have an insanely loaded schedule ahead of me now...

Day 86&87: Revisions of second part going well. 🤞🤞

Day 85: Today went as planned. First half done. I moved on to revising the second half. Yay!

Day 82&83&84: Taking a break helped. I think I am done with the revisions of the first half of the chapter. I'll go over it tomorrow before moving on to the second half, which should take much less longer if all goes well. Fingers crossed.

Day 79&80&81: After two more days of trying and being stuck, I simply decided to take a day off because that was the only thing I have not tried in a while...

Day 77&78: Stuck at the end of the last chapter, a bit of improvement, but not as much as I hoped for.

Day 75&76: Another subsection revised. (If I hadn't written this, I would have forgotten that I had actually achieved this.) I started revising the last subsection of the first half of the last chapter. Slow but steady.

Day 73&74: some birthday festivities and some planning theory of law. If law is plan, let me tell you, I am an awful lawmaker because nothing goes according to the plan.

başak ya :) bluesky'ı "fişekle-moi"yı "AJ'i nerede görsem severek okurum" anlamında mı yazdı, yoksa "bana yazdığını gönder istersen" mi demek istedi diye düşünerek açtım, bunu gördüm :) kalp kalbe karşı valla. revizyonu bitireyim fişeklerim :)

Day 71&72: I am revising the section where I link my argument to analytical jurisprudence. I've realized I assume that reader will zone out there. I am constantly trying to prove that the discussion is relevant rather than actually discussing. I've gone mad. Writing has become an impossible task.

Day 69&70: I took a day off yesterday, watched a movie, met some colleagues. I went back to my thesis and cataloguing books today. Feels good to be able to focus on what matters for me now.

Days 66&67&68: 3 days of ASCL conference extravaganza. It was fun, exhausting, and thought provoking. I also watched two movies today, one of them was just amazing: The Blue Trail. Highly recommended.

Day 64&65: ASCL conference presentation is 90% done. I submitted the postdoc application and continued working on last chapter revisions.

I am really anxious that I am slightly late with my schedule, but I am just going to work without thinking about it. That is the only thing that helps.

Day 62&63: Two productive days. I finished revising the first subsection of the last chapter and drafted %60 of a presentation for the ASCL conference on Friday.

Day 60&61: Two productive days revising my last chapter. It's going okay. I feel anxiously hopeful. Fingers crossed.

Day 59: Busy day with non-thesis stuff. I did some cataloguing.
I watched two wonderful films: Un Poeta+Kontinental '25. In both films, protagonists' guilt paralyzed them even though they wanted to act better and viewers were invited to mock with that paralysis. Calls to action disguised as satire.
