School book banning escalates in the UK as Greater Manchester secondary school censors scores of books - Index on Censorship A school librarian faced a disciplinary hearing and scores of books were removed from her school library after she stocked Laura Bates’ Men Who Hate Women

This is utterly jaw-dropping.

A school that bans Atwood, Zadie Smith, Terry effing Pratchett and *literal George Orwell* is actively harming its pupils.

Over the last few years, American tech oligarchs have become the greatest argument against their own existence.

The sheer scale of their erratic behavior and political interference proves that extreme wealth concentration is a structural threat to society

Surely “Cook on Costs” would trump that.

Good to see Starmer showing some backbone. Being gaslit by Trump about the special relationship is ironic in the extreme.

Commuting into the city this morning. It sounds like half the train has a virus. The lessons of Covid forgotten already.

Never again wonder why Russia was willing to spend billions getting Trump into office.

Sadly, the Brits STILL don't understand it's all happening again with Farage.

As an FYI, am trying the Standard Apple weather app - it’s not bad.

The Greenland crisis is surely proof enough we need to investigate Russian influence in UK politics.

We’d like a return to the old version of the app please. The new one is shite. Have a look at the reviews on the App Store if you don’t believe me.

The question for millionaire defector Nadhim Zahawi is this: what was it persuaded you Farage and Reform are no longer racists and Xenophobes? Was it one of them being convicted for taking Russian bribes or the 30 plus individuals who have come forward to reveal Farage’s racism and antisemitism?

Amazing how the global tech giants want to avoid paying taxes or any restraint on their growth yet cheerfully hand responsibility for the consequences of their disruption to the state (whether it’s AI or social media) expecting the state to protect the millions affected without the funds to do so.

That assumes you don’t think it can get worse. Surely you just have to look to the USA to see that. Public service broadcasting may not be doing all we want it to but at least we can contest it and work to improve it. We can’t do that with any commercial broadcaster.

The BBC faces an almost existential level decision. If they roll over on the Trump demands they will lose enormous integrity with most of their supporters both in the UK and around the world. If they capitulate to Trump who next, Putin? Every other despot?

Hard won reputation gone in an instant.

The racism, Islamophobia and anti semitism over on X is breathtaking. I reported several posts. Not sure why I bothered. Apparently none of them violated their rules. The only conclusion is that Musk is deliberately fomenting hatred and violence.
