as you find the parts, you can just use those to build. might take some time to build up (or if you want, can also disable costs, depending on how you feel about that sort of thing >.>). the game really lets you play however you want. the game has pretty good 'difficulty' tuning tbh.
have you unlocked corvettes yet? they're kind of like flying storage pods. they can be a bit clunky but you can build it up however you'd like it to look after you find enough salvage parts. so you have a few options for ship building/purchases
thats up to you - but theres a reason, you can actually come across crashed ships that you can repair for "free" (you use your materials to fix it up). but also, once you start earning a lot of credits, interacting with NPCs in the space stations if u see a ship you like to buy will also be feasible
you can just hunt for the perfect paradise planet that you want to build a base on, etc. you let the game guide you, then you start over and focus the stuff you had fun doing lol. i love the game, happy to answer any questions!
most folks who play would say that the game is basically what you want it to be. it has a wide array of offerings with less depth. but once you get all the base recipes & start earning currencies, u really accelerate. you make your own fun, do what you want - so pirate, chef, botanist, etc
