There is a silent pact between the dormant stumps of the plum orchard under the house and the human residence.

Abundance, or consequences.

I tend to use it in fairly small quantities

I’ve been known to send @funranium.bsky.social’s supercoffee to friends for exactly the same reason.

@nuclearanthro.bsky.social Bert has now come to a poster practice session and has been thrown at a colleague so that the students can get a word in (it’s how we use plushies - and it’s a years-long tradition).

Years ago, my spouse got them to hold the plane (flying to VSS, delayed at security by someone ahead of me with a giant tub of peanut butter in carry on).

Did a dead sprint through most of a terminal at Logan.

There was an 8am scotch once we hit 10,000 ft.

Sometimes, the overripe bananas compel you to make banana bread.

Admittedly, I did throw a pile of cardamom into it.

My younger brother persuaded me… and it’s meant I’ve had more fun with a camera than I have in years!

Yup. Which was maddening when I was a teen with little money.

I’ve been reading him since my teens, and there’s a certain amount of “Ken’s on his hobby horses again” but he’s useful.

There was a different photographer who published a ton on the big inkjet I’ve had since 2012. Similar level of bonkers-but-useful.

True. Anna doesn’t do alcohol, so I’m the only cocktail-maker in the house.

I should be the target market for the Silly Ice Machines… but feh. Never bought one.

Merely having an ice maker in the freezer for the first time since 2008 is plenty for me! Even if my spouse thinks I’m strange for wanting ice in my drinks (this has been a joke of ours for 15 years).

For the *reader* it's a vision problem - and said student is mostly interested in blur / low contrast / small size / visual distortion for text, not handwriting, but she motivates this work with "well, you see degraded text both handwritten and not all the time... so how do you make sense of it"
