Being a parent is a lifelong commitment. At minimum you need to be just as active of a parent when your kid is a teenager with raging hormones and poor decision making skills, but old enough to face real detrimental consequences for their mistakes. High school is critical for parenting.

I def agree the cat problem is substantially worse. The dog thing annoys me when the dog is clearly stressed out in the public environment. Like your dog doesn’t have to be at the farmers market just bc YOU want him there - most dogs don’t enjoy that busy of an environment!
