Most of the romances in Tomodachi Life happen real quick because I set the canon couples as irl partners but for some reason Sabrina took a REALLY long time to warm up to Mimi and even rejected them, Yalina, and Grace all at once at some point.

43: Gnomeo & Juliet

Solid way to introduce the idea of Shakespeare to kids and I like a lot of the subtle references to the bard throughout, but otherwise is fairly generic. I appreciate it for what it is but doesn’t do anything crazy. Shocking amount of Elton John in it.

42: Romeo & Juliet 2013

Had to compare some adaptations, this one is fine for what it is. It tries to be a slightly streamlined but mostly straightforward adaptation post-Twilight and it does a solid enough job. It doesn’t do much I love but it’s a generally solid version.

41: Dragonsweeper

Shockingly addictive take on Minesweeper a La D&D that involves strategizing to level up enough to defeat a dragon in the center of the board. It’s funny to put this on the list but it’s really satisfying and difficult! It’s on itchio with browser support.

40: Hadestown

This might be my new favorite musical of all time. It was so stylish, so well done, so constantly captivating. My heart was beating in the climax even knowing how the old story ends. And WOW, Hades himself. I am genuinely blown away, it was all I wanted and more.

39: Godspell

Very fascinating film and musical. It’s not really my style but I appreciate its willingness to be silly and uncompromising in its style. Glad I watched it even if it’s fairly far outside my stylistic wheelhouse.

38: Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

Very cool attempt at the series in 3D. It has issues, level design is very dull here, but the story was cool, the presentation was great, and the bosses were a lot of fun. It doesn’t match the best of the series but is cool in its own right.

37: Epic: The Musical

Very cool project. Turning the Odyssey into a musical is a no brainer and the effort pays off. I have qualms, largely about Odysseus’s characterization, but I hope to see it expand and thrive even more in the future.

36: Robin Hood

A nice and straightforward movie with a lot of charm to its simplicity. The dialogue is the standout, I really do miss this era of natural, slow, but still witty dialogue even in voice acting, it strikes nicely. Fun time.

Went in mostly blind and had a really good time. It’s a fun mix of Ryan Gosling’s tired everyman humor with some really engaging hard sci-fi procedural. Absolutely loved it.

34: Love-Colored Boundary

One of the Touhou doujin series published officially alongside the canon manga, this was one of the best of them all. A yuri series that gets the characters well and has fun dynamics and charming art, I adored it. Hope to see more from the artist!

33: Flamecraft

Including lengthier board games in the list - this one was really fun! Took longer than expected but the group had a good time learning the strategy of the game and it has some of the most gorgeous presentation I've ever seen in a board game. Will play again!

32: Rabbit and Steel

Beat an easy run with friends. Fun Touhou-inspired game where I didn’t really know what was going on, I’m definitely interested in playing more, or at least trying out stuff from the creator.
