This is the first step of making a Swedish sourdough rye bread: 'skållning', which literally translates as 'scalding' or 'blanching'. I've mixed crushed rye seeds, sunflower seeds and sesame seeds and poured boiling water on. It will soak overnight and will be mixed in the dough in the morning.
