We need real data protection legislation and new technological paradigms that allow users to hold their own data - incl social graphs and content - as they see fit with apps, etc. just being interchangeable frontends.

No tech is immune from enshittification and it often follows an arc that tracks such hiring.

Ty for the forays into the strange tensions, social commentary disguised as near dreamscapes, memorable but never quite fully explicable characters and amazing array of talent that you brought so vividly to the screen - many of whom, like Rossellini, continue to wow us.

Lynch was a true auteur and a significant influence for many of us - a maker of dreams into shared visionscapes. A person whose work, really, even featured in many dreams.

David Lynch's passing was not unexpected given his recent health struggles. His body of work could always have expanded, but it really also feels as complete as it needed to be - like much of his work, just enough was wrapped up while the voyeur was left with a feeling of open endendness
