The biggest story in the world right now is that the president of the United States is a demented old man who takes pleasure in torturing and killing people and is committing crimes with impunity. And yet most legacy media outlets are too cowardly to tell it like it is.
Yeah, I'm not sure we are ever going to get to the point where a model can be explained that way. There is a level of complication you just simply can not work around. However, as long as they are available to researchers in an explainable manner, then we can ensure they aren't being manipulated.
The tools exist. The Allen Institute has been releasing new open source tooling all the time. Google Vertex, Amazon Bedrock, and Azure ML all have tools. Could they better, yes. They have and will continue to improve, especially if you require it.
My goal is to use my experience breaking down complicated systems to non-technical people. To provide a clear definition of explainable AI in the true sense and convince them of the dystopic future that follows if we don't make it so. Not conjecture, facts. Wish me luck.
The best thing we can do to ensure a better future with AI is ensure that any AI used in the public sector is fully explainable. I intend to work my ass off in lobbying state congress in Washington so that we're the first. Here we go!

The ONLY safe and ethical AI is open-source code AND open data. That's what we've been working on though and honestly thanks to the Chinese, it's just as good as the closed or partially open stuff.
There is no sense in filing patents in AI anymore. By the time you get it filed someone already wrote something similar or better and open sourced it. I really fucking love this timeline.
