I think there are many people saying and doing evil things which should be called out, but the number of people who themselves are inherently evil is quite small.
To label huge numbers of people as evil dehumanizes them, increasing the likelihood we say and do evil things back in their direction.

Stanford medical students speak up on the DoJ investigation into admissions:
“We want to see Stanford enroll more Black, Latino and Indigenous medical and PA students, not for optics, but because they deserve to be here without having their success dismissed as the product of DEI.”
Retired faculty member and alum, Dr. Audrey Shafer on the DoJ investigation on admissions:
“I would not be me without my history with the University. I feel assaulted by the federal government’s intrusion and overreach into higher education.”
I just signed, and I encourage all of my Stanford colleagues to do so as well.
The idea that the DOJ is asking for private student data to promote "fairness" in admissions is ludicrous. Instead the info will be weaponized to force our compliance w discriminatory directives from the Trump admin.
The physician of a family member - who I assumed was a conventional doc - recommended that she take a specific homeopathic product to reduce bleeding prior to a very low risk upcoming surgery.
I'm conflicted between just letting it go vs. calling up his office to ask "WTF?"
A clip from The New York Times reads: "But only the entities that officially paid the tariffs are eligible to recover that money. That means that the fuller universe of people affected by Mr. Trump’s policies — including millions of Americans who paid higher prices for the products they bought — are not able to apply for direct relief. The extent to which consumers realize any gain hinges on whether businesses share the proceeds, something that few have publicly committed to do. Some have started to band together in class-action lawsuits in the hopes of receiving a payout."
The average American family paid $1,700 in tariffs last year, according to the bipartisan Congressional Joint Economic Committee. Few will ever see any of that money back. The refunds will go to companies, if doled out at all. What a joke.
Over the last decade all 3 branches of the US federal government have lost all respectability. The political science and philosophy of the Enlightenment was no match for 21st century technology, social media, 24/7 news, and insatiable greed for money and power.
If Trump is successful in having his DOJ’s lawyers “settle” with his personal lawyers over his absurd $10 billion lawsuit of the IRS - using taxpayer money - it will be the single most corrupt act in the history of the world. Nothing else would come remotely close.

“Willy Sutton has a complicated relationship with banks.”
This is great! Based on my kids’ experiences in our district, too many teachers steer clear of discussing anything remotely related to current politics. It’s amazing how little these huge issues facing society are formally discussed in our schools.
If he truly wasn’t concerned, why would he be whining about it on social media?
At what point does making a credible, actionable threat to commit a war crime for the purpose of terrorizing another country into submission become criminal in itself?
Is Pope Leo XIV the right person to lead the Catholic Church? We asked four evangelicals at a megachurch outside of Nashville.

Given the literal blasphemy that's been coming from the White House in the past few days, i was amused to see this old classic show up in my YouTube recommendations.

Science needs visible advocates. Come be one.
Am I missing something or does this seems unexpectedly ok?
A seemingly tiny thing that is nevertheless irritating:
The lack of consistency in the notation used for partial pressures in medicine. The bottom one seems closest to "correct", but it's also the least common & most annoying to type.
Meanwhile Wikipedia mixes 3 formats within a span of 4 lines.
Maybe the Vatican just getting revenge for Vance killing the last pope.
He already decided years ago. That’s how he got his current job!
What a perfectly dark encapsulation of our entire society and government: to pay for her husband's cancer treatment, grandma delivers DoorDash fast food to the billionaire President (who just raised her costs through increased gas prices). She goes on Fox News to praise him.
I can assure you that as a physician for 2 decades, I have never once worn robes into the hospital, nor cured a sick or injured person with magical light from my hands.
If Trump truly thinks he is depicted as a doctor here, he is even more impaired than I thought!

I've never been closer to converting to Catholicism than this moment.
I have absolutely no intention of ever doing so - but this is still the closest I've been.

Perhaps the Americans should have brought actual experienced diplomats with them?
This clip of Trump vs an umbrella is just beautiful.
Does it not occur to him that it might block someone else’s path?
Is he so entitled that he just assumes someone else will run up the stairs to move it?
Or does he literally not know how an umbrella works?

I admit this had never occurred to me, but it is so true. Trump's vanity is so bad that he would rather never read a thing than be seen wearing glasses. Or alternatively, he's always been incapable of reading due to functional illiteracy, so a need for glasses hasn't even been considered by him.
IMHO, this should only be a 3 person race for the Democratic vote between Porter, Becerra, and Steyer, but I understand why a couple other candidates may be waiting to see how the Swalwell news shakes out before making a decision to drop out.
The nonpartisan top-two primary election is June 6. There are currently still over 20 declared Democratic candidates.
If they weren't blinded by ego or the desire to use their candidacy to push some pet issue of theirs, all but 3-4 of them would have already dropped out.
