more MEG artefacts: the tram runs in ~200 meter distance from the MEG lab here. even though the MEG sensors are shielded by a few tons of metal, they still pick up the railway traction power signal (at 16.67 Hz in Germany), a demo of their high sensitivity.

Hello Psychology Bluesky - does anyone know an open data depository where I could send Research Methods students to find datasets? I had a link to an OSF repository, but it no longer works after the revamp. Thank you!

It is absolutely astonishingly impressive how much work scientific publishers have managed to shunt onto authors, who aren't paid, while they continue to increase their enormous profits. The submission process itself takes about 5 hours. I miss the 90s ๐Ÿ˜ข

MRC / @ukri.org are moving to in-person panel interviews for applicants.

Have they done a disability and equity impact assessment on this?

I know some great scientists with great ideas who would be unfairly disadvantaged, due to minority ethnicity, class background or neurodivergence.

I did a Meet the Scientist session at my son's nursery today. Absolutely terrifying, but so cool. We did EEG and talked about the model brain. Amazing deadpan replies from 4 year olds. The best reply to "Does anyone know what the brain does?" was "It stops your head from going flat". Not wrong, kid.
