It's a scary time for folks going into college now. The Economist did a piece just last month on university attendance and the expected job market in four years. Most experts recommend that kids pass on college and go into the trades instead, as carpentry/HVAC/plumbing are harder for AI to replace.

So glad that Svengoolle is showing Parents tonight! Not sure if it's in honor of Mary Beth Hurt who passed in March, but we're still glad to see her again in one of her oddest roles.

No surprise... For Lily's birthday tonight, we went to the picture show! We were planning on seeing a different film, but we caught Soderbergh's newest The Christophers instead after reading @splicedpersonality.bsky.social piece on it this morning and we're glad we did!

Lost-Lost Film by French Cinema Pioneer Turns Up in Michigan | Artnet News The 45-second Georges Méliès film, "Gugusse and the Automaton", was donated to the Library of Congress last year.

This is incredible! Someone found, Gugusse and the Automaton, a long-lost film from the late 1800s by Georges Méliès. It was in a trunk in a garage in Grand Rapids, Michigan! It's now safely at the Library of Congress.

Ken Loach revisits I, Daniel Blake: ‘We were asking if food banks are tolerable. Now they’re an institution’ The scene at the food bank, recalls the director, where Katie is so hungry, she pours baked beans into her hand from a tin and eats them cold, came from a real story

On the tenth anniversary of Ken Loach's heartbreaking Palme d’Or winning film, I, Daniel Blake, @theguardian.com sat down with Loach and star Hayley Squires to talk about their preparations for the material. Good read! @kenloach16films.bsky.social

We just caught the impressive Isamu Noguchi exhibition at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and we were floored by these statement pieces...Noguchi, in solidarity with his fellow Japanese-Americans during WW2, voluntarily committed himself to the Posten internment camp in Arizona.
