If you tried something like Mint, you'd be amazed how much you already now. All the basics of using a PC are there. Is there a learning curve, yes. Is it as steep as you think? I would say no.

Been a Linux user since 2009. The Linux of then, is not the Linux of today. There's plenty of distros where you don't even need to use the command line. It's a very different user experience.
