And by "when it reopened", I mean like 1 week after the incident. The concert stage and everything was still set up on the field the hotel overlooks, and they were still conducting investigations out there. I think our conference's fun activities were supposed to have taken place there.

I had forgotten his name, but not the incident, because I attended a conference at that hotel right after it reopened, and my room must have been just above or below his room, with the same view, and it was quite horrifying that life just moved on. Everyone who worked in Vegas was clearly affected.

I had a parent do this in real time, correcting an eyewitness account I got from someone *on the scene* of the car attack at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville (I had been 1 block away), because of how they were seeing it reported on FOX News. I learned a meaningful lesson that day.
