For Love Commands This Poem hit me like a sermon.

There is a lot here but I think it is really good. Take a chance.

The Toolbox Imagine if you will, (Thanks Rod Serling), A toolbox used by a craftsman, Potentially so destructive It could destroy everything.

This is some of my best writing. I am very pleased with this one. I hope you enjoy it.

Ah Camp LeJeune I remember you well. The pride that comes being part of the finest. The misery of being a grunt in December.

The Congressman Must Go The Congressman Must Go I like Eric Swalwell.

This one hurts. But we must hold those elected accountable, even at our expense.

And The Silence Content Warning — These poems confront Child Sexual Abuse.

Sometimes The hardest things to read are the most truthful. Caution before reading my friends. These two variations of the same poem deal with Child sexual exploitation. open.substack.com/pub/reflecti...

Where I No Longer Am The years — have dripped away, like an open wound — upon this heart of mine.

Poetry helps us explain the unexplainable. This is my attempt at explaining a place I have found myself more than a few times. I am lucky — I have a very strong safety net. Many people don't.

I am a life long Democrat. And while I completely agree, would it not be better to show this instead of just saying this. When we say without showing we can be pushed aside as being hyperbolic party hacks.

When we show, we win the conversation. Look at the SAVE act.

If You Talk Content Warning

Caution with this one. It needs to be spoken about. However, the topic is very heavy and care must be taken. It contains an image of CSA within a religious environment.

The Light There is the light of the sun Marked in time by the sundial Its illumination and warmth Casts aside the cold darkness

This poem flowed from an unfinished thought,

"There is the light..."

I had to earn this poem. The end result far surpasses the starting image. I hope you like it.

One Of Those Days The rain fell from the heavens – like a child unconsolibly weeping. The rivers rose until the flatlands flooded. And the people smiled and simply said – it's one of those days where we are tested

The last one from this early morning writing. It is gentle. Kind. And it feels like the right one to end today's writing on.

The Weaponization The bandage became a club Wrapped with raze-tape Love was given limits Fear was given free rein

This is what happens when I have nightmares.

Two poems and a half a story latter and my mind has calmed down.

cPTSD is not something I would recommend.

I think it is living in love.
Not token, idealized love.
But the dirty, hard love that does not shirk or shrink away.

It is using your gifts for the betterment of more than you.
My gift is words - writing.
And so I write for one unknown person -

This is living in love.
This is quiet resilience.

This one flowed out. There was only one line edit. I suppose i could have refined it even more. But in doing that I think it would have lost its humanity.

When Arrogance Becomes Foreign Policy When Arrogance Becomes Foreign Policy The United States has never led the world by force alone.

This lands hard - and rightly so. We are in dangerous times being led by an administration that is more concerned with their image than the lives of the service member they command.
