Typically, anything created by an employee of the US government while performing their duties is not subject to copyright and automatically in the public domain. In this case, however… I’m not sure

EREVs are new? Really?
Explain the 2016 Chevy Volt I owned for three years. I drove 3,000 miles without using a drop of gas one summer because I charged at home, and the only reason it started running the engine was for cabin heat.

Yes! If you can trust the technology and it’s freely available, the organizations’ continued benevolence becomes irrelevant
The author’s fourth-generation iPod with a color screen
I’ve started buying my music again. It’s great to listen to on a device that was made for that purpose!
Preach! One of the most powerful things about ATProtocol is that the data plane holds every app’s information! I could foresee lots of specialized community PDS providers. It’s a low barrier to entry and still helps decentralization
I’m not currently using any Bluesky infrastructure and neither are you. I didn’t have any trouble yesterday. Tell me again how ATProtocol pretends to be decentralized?
What’s really funny is I saw the lower number and thought that was more accurate.
Does this also explain why the Blacksky AppView is showing me an old handle for my account?
Oh hey what’s happening on blueskHOOOOOOLY CHEESE GRATER IT’S DOWN HARD
not at all the point but this is why an image made in Photoshop is better than AI
The reason for 50% of human choices is if someone is going to insure that
I busted out my 11-year-old Pebble Time Steel yesterday. Best decision I've made in a while.
Exactly. I'm still not sure why the bidirectional domain name self-verification wasn't good enough. Any entity serious enough about publishing things on the internet has (or should have) one. It's one of the most "open web" things about atproto.
There’s also the fact that ATProtocol repositories are portable (which is a good thing, to be clear). If a relay ignores a PDS, a bad actor can just move their account to a different one.
This is exactly the double-edged sword with ATProtocol. It's great that casual users/normies can easily onboard themselves because it looks like a monolith, but if a bad actor breaks into the ecosystem, the fact it looks like a monolith will cause a lot of misplaced blame
My first impression was not to take it is a complaint that it’s worth too much, but rather a worry that it’s not worth as much as they’ve been told… which also satisfies the “greed” aspect
Traditional local media (broadcast and print) need to position themselves as a place to “come home” to with shocking urgency. There’s opportunity to reconnect with audiences amid the Big Tech backlash.

Voting harder just gave the Hungarian pro-democracy opposition everything they need to dispossess Orban's entire political machine, rip up Orban's antidemocratic 2011 constitution, and restore liberal democracy.
Vote hard enough and Trump will meet a similar fate.
Funny how this works isn’t it? The ballot box is LITERALLY THE SCORE. Run it the f*ck up. And that’s the minimum you should be doing.
PS: posting online is not voting.
It’s never been a better time to be into “retro” computing because even the stuff that’s going out the door as e-waste these days is some good stuff.
(Microsoft didn’t help with insane/arbitrary Win11 hardware requirements.)
Just so more people know: in nearly every case, materials created by an employee of the US government in the course of their duties are not subject to copyright and automatically in the public domain. That means photos, recordings, weather forecasts, and even software.
Free advice for Article I officials:
1. Introduce articles of impeachment in the House. Do it regardless if you think it will succeed. Repeat if it fails.
2. "We need greater numbers to do this so call and tell your reps to support this and vote for someone who will in November"
3. WHO'DA THUNK
I am begging everyone comparing draft registration with voter registration to learn literally anything about US civics and federalism.
The Selective Service System is run by the federal government. Voter registration is handled by the states. Unless you want the feds controlling elections…?
Getting real sick of tapping this sign
I'll take confederate surrender over cognitive surrender all day every day
If you haven't seen the handful of videos these folks have put on YouTube, you are missing out.
A fourth-generation iPod (from 2004 or 2005) shown with headphones. On the screen is the Rockbox custom firmware now playing screen while the device plays a track from Taylor Swift’s 2025 studio album in FLAC format. The author is at a loss as to what is so bad about this
That’s so real and I’m happy for you.
This is a 20-year-old device. I installed a new battery and replaced the spinning hard drive with an SSD. Not running Apple software, playing FLAC
Rockbox unfortunately does not run on Zune, but if you can find a good 4th/5th/5.5 generation iPod classic, it runs wonderfully. I use rsync to populate my iPod with FLAC files
Yup... someone missed the memo. There's a reason we call it the "minority party" rather than "opposition party" here. We all love a good cosmopolitan mindset, but it doesn't make the things that are uniquely American about our government just melt away
