Here a grandmother is forced to do a gig job with no job security because she can’t afford to retire? What are we celebrating here?

On a sunny Friday afternoon, took Judy for a long loop around s mpls. Loved seeing kids out, being kids... glued to their phones, popping wheelies on their bikes, walking dogs with their moms. I hope its a sign this neighborhood is healing.

I am glad the Council did this. As a resident of the city, I had no idea what he did to earn his whopping $350,000 a year salary. During the height of the ICE occupation, this supposed commissioner of community safety was persona non grata.

This is a great essay on academic publishing... I shared it with my colleagues at Minnesota and encouraged everyone to read it.

I've been having a blast this winter taking a nostalgia trip through Azeroth via WoW Classic, but that seems to be coming to an end, as the guild I've been running with transitions to Kara prep. I am too old to be assigned a raiding slot in a spreadsheet by strangers.

My thirteen year old cousin was struck and killed by a drunk driver when I was a kid. This shit enrages me. Elliott Engen must resign.

I do appreciate when readers contact me, not the author, to share a typo. We create a "reprints file" and when the book comes up to be reprinted, we can correct typos in that way.

Weird to say, but these days finding the occasional typo doesn't bother me at all (perhaps that's partly what comes with 20 years working in typoland), but a typo reminds me that humans made this, the author, but also copyeditors and editors and proofreaders. Wonderful humans.

Checkpoint 300 and the Architecture of Control Mark Griffiths shows how the infamous Checkpoint 300 embodies larger geographies of Israeli control — reshaping a once-vibrant commercial strip in the West Bank.

Conferences in spaces like the Hilton Union Square can be disabling events for people with metabolic disorders. I’ve packed my luggage with fresh fruit, granola bars, and nuts.

I'm also reflecting on the fact that I've been attending the AAGs and publishing in geography for over two decades. I was a young editorial assistant when I worked on DEMONIC GROUNDS, and it blew my mind. One of those books that knocks your thinking into a totally new orbit.

Super excited to be heading to (balmy) San Francisco today for the #AAG #AAG26 meeting. We have a stellar lineup of new works in geography. I am so excited to showcase a 20th anniversary edition of Katherine McKittrick's (@demonicgrounds.bsky.social) field-defining DEMONIC GROUNDS.

If my Grandma Wilson were still alive, she'd describe the weather in Minneapolis today as "Windier than a hoot."
