Raptor Monitoring in Shropshire

The Shropshire Raptor Group is hosting a public meeting on the birds of prey it monitors, with an illustrated talk by renowned local photographer Allan Heath, one of the Group members. It will be held at 7.30pm on Wednesday 29 January 2025, at Bayston Hill Memorial Hall. All welcome.

The Group’s Annual Report for 2024 can be found on the SOS website www.shropshirebirds.com

The Group wants to recruit experienced bird watchers who have the necessary identification skills to find Goshawk, Hobby, Red Kite and Kestrel, and who have the commitment and time to be able to search for nest sites, monitor them and record the outcomes. If there is enough interest shown at the public meeting, we will arrange a site visit to look for raptors in early March, which will help show potential recruits what’s involved.

If you’re interested in joining the Group, but can’t make the meeting, please ask Leo Smith for details of how to apply.
