People who think $12/year is nothing & that people are upset over nothing need to shush, because you’re clearly living with better financial resources and therefore your opinion counts less.

Stop always thinking about what could go wrong, and try wondering about what could go right. Mix it up a little.

Feeling guilty for not staying with mum even though her sister was there still etc etc

Weird being the responsible adult again after having to take on that mentally at different stages of life whether appropriate or not.

From welfare academic Verity Archer:

"The Labor Party, for the most part, stopped talking about welfare rights and started talking about dole bludgers in 1974. Following the 1973 oil crisis, unemployment and inflation rose sharply. Both major parties searched for solutions to the crisis and adopted neoliberal economics. With the new economics came new ideas about rights. Central was the idea that taxpayers had rights and that these rights were contravened most violently by the act of income redistribution.

The term dole bludger was used for the first time and the Labor Party took a hard line against so-called bludgers in order to prove their commitment to the new economics and to the taxpayer. Welfare rights were on the out and taxpayers were king."

The 1970s oil shocks gave us the term "bludger". Will the new fuel crisis give us a new term, or are we sticking with old faithful

Several younger people in the ward waiting on those supports too before they can go home.

Mum's 68 so there's been a lot of moments where people have thought she was younger and might be eligible for NDIS which while a shit fight would provide a lot more support.

They probably realised if they gave them anything other than full strength beer they would expect a lot more violence.

Game cover (2001) of Dōbutsu no Mori for the N64, the first installment in the Animal Crossing series. It looks like a yellow postcard with stamps. The Japanese game title is in the middle and K.K. Slider with guitar is on the bottom in front of some trees.

Just found out today is the 25th anniversary of Animal Crossing! Dōbutsu no Mori (Animal Forest) for the N64 was released exclusively in Japan in 2001 :)

This is what the Labor government is doing by filling the media with stories about Haircuts and movies costing billions under the NDIS.
If money is removed from disability support , people die .
That’s a fact .
Showering and eating are not a luxury . #DisabilityRights

Yeah talking with the social worker about what in home supports we could realistically expect for mum to go home and yeah they really would rather spend waaaaay more shipping people off to nursing homes than supporting them at home :/

Make no mistake . This technology where the algorithm decides your support needs is coming for the Disability Community via NDIS.
You cannot question the algorithm if the support package is incorrect.

My family would not be in this country if it required an English language test or we banned people from authoritarian regimes. My Nonna wasn't comfortable speaking English even after being in the country for 50 years. My Nonno came here from Mussolini's Italy and then was interned in ww2 after

Do better for children - Raise the Age NSW Community leaders are calling on the NSW Government to raise the age and do better for children, community safety and the budget bottom line.

It’s my pleasure to work with leaders, like these. Leaders who want better for children and communities, not worse. Take a few minutes to watch this powerful collective message of hope. Now for leadership from our NSW Premier, Government and Parliament. share.raisetheagensw.org.au/public-share...

Yes, libraries are invaluable for their collections and services they offer, but also social contact without the expectation to interact with anyone or spend money is so important to so many people
