Some reflections on why my corporate experiences affected me so much, whilst it appeared that others sailed through unscathed.
Why did it affect me so much?

Why work's no fun anymore, the importance of personal interactions, why we should talk to strangers, how technology's got in the way, the need to design work around humans and how AI is driving recruitment back to face-to-face interaction.

More corporate brutality, how AI is eating jobs but not in the way you think, Private Equity looking to charge rent on, er, living, and the speculation at the bottom of AI. And it's all connected. Yes, really. What a time to be alive.

Palantir, the controversial U.S. company working with ICE and the Israeli military, has access to our private data via NHS databases. We need the Government to trigger the break clause on their contract NOW. šØCan you sign and share?
Itās all connected. Cults, Corporate BS, introspection, AI, and the quote desperation seeping through the workforce as they ponder the meaning of existence. Oh, and the madness of our modern would-be emperors, the Tech Broligarchy.

We seldom talk about the feelings of shame and grief that we experience about the workplace and our careers. Yet they hold us in pain and drain us of the means to extract ourselves.
And if we donāt talk about them, they hold us prisoner in a jail of our own making.

A bit of a rant about how spin has become more important that substance and how the stories (like sackings are due to AI) are increasingly detached from the underlying reality and trifles like, you know, facts.

Feel your pain. Dropped a mug on ours. Iām a clumsy idiot, apparently.
I just signed a petition to stop the rollout of facial recognition surveillance in the UK.
The Government and shops are scanning us without clear laws in place, using our faces like barcodes.
It feels really invasive. Can you take 30 seconds to sign it too? you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/st...
Organisations are dominated by hierarchies and we think they are the norm but much of what we do in life is non-hierarchical. Hierarchies inherently bring power imbalances into relationships and that's what messes us up, whichever side of the imbalance we are on.

This clip of Marc Andreesen explains a lot. Like how clever people can be a whole pile of stupid.
And I thought the valley wet its pants over Marcus Aurelius but heās somehow missed that.
And awful decor all round.

Appalling line of questioning here from Keunssberg. Itās Trump who is breaking norms here, not Starmer.
Not a paen to the pint but to Stafford Beer and how he explains that what happens in corporates is exactly what is supposed to happen. Yes, even the bad stuff. In fact, especially the bad stuff.
Beer is the answer

Why AI is like WfH, a distraction from the real challenge; the hysteria phase of AI because they don't understand how stuff works; how to look at complexity; getting uncomfortably numb.

Why we numb ourselves to cope with corporate life and why this is a really bad idea.

The narrative about AI and work that we donāt hear, how āsemantic ablationā is making writing beige, the jagged frontier, and the inexescapabale reason AI wonāt take over.
So, yeah, more AI stuff. Itās inescapable at the moment.

Itās an illuminating choice.
These are the external forces that have impacted the workplace, that combine and compound on one another to cause the decline of the past four decades. I call these āThe Forces Of Crapificationā

Just going to leave this here
I spent a half a term missing every morning break at junior school because I couldn't master long-division of £sd. Every day I had to do 10 sums and I never got them all right. I was glad to see the back of it, it was pants.
Iām standing with headteachers and co-signing their open letter.

Itās also utter bollocks.
It's all connected & it connects to Epstein & attitudes at the top of organisations; the joke's on me; using AI can be wasteful and corrosive; how AI is being pushed with the same old promises of all automation
