I'd say there is more to being ethical than merely being more/less open about what you're doing. They are both super gross. It's not illegal to be gross in this way, but I'm not sure it's ethical.

Political cartoon from the 1960s-70s US political cartoonist "Herblock", who was very popular. It shows a shit-spattered Nixon standing knee deep in filth, coming out of the gutter, accosting John Q Public - an ordinary guy.

For those of you who don't know Herblock, I don't think it's too much to say that he transformed Nixon's image w/his very popular political cartoons. Here's our boy reaching out of the gutter-cesspool-spittoon-hades to accost John Q Public. Notice the lump of filth in his hand

Especially the way Herblock drew him!
