A small light-duty truck for my project. A few words about what I'm working on. It's an arcade trucking simulator powered by the Godot Engine. Currently, the resource loader, location loading system, environment and weather subsystems are finished. Vehicle physics are in progress.

Finally! A test export of a location into my game. A small two-lane road, 3 kilometers long. I'm incredibly happy that this has finally happened. Development has been going on for many years at a slow pace, and now the project is becoming something more than just some experiments on Godot Engine.

The "slippery" vehicle physics in KotR, almost like in versions 4.0 - 5.8. This was an unexpected result, as I wanted to correct the cause of loaded cars turning over.
The NPC vehicle behavior patch for KotR produces interesting results 😄

Pleasantly surprised by the first impressions! The game supports NeGcon Rumble (so I have modern controls), handles unexpectedly well, has a damage model and serviceable car models!
An attempt to transfer the water splash effect from HT2 5.5 to KotR 8.2 xD
By the way, HT2 4.0-5.8 also featured strong splashes from the wheels when driving through water. However, in subsequent versions of the game, these were completely removed (or disabled).

This is a rendered panorama stretched onto a semi-cylinder. It's possible to add fully 3D models of interiors to the game, but due to the flat shading, they look very bad.

I was looking for a solution to the AI traffic issues in King of the Road and accidentally disabled it completely. It looks a bit creepy with the X-Files music. 😄

Finally, a camera angle control via mouse from HT2 4.0-5.8 in KotR 8.2/1.3. However, due to the wide screen resolution, there are problems with centering the camera.
In general, it looks like AI driver just scared to go into the unknown 😆
Although it is written on the RnR-Wiki that in the release versions of the game, traffic begins to drive through the mines if you push the AI car deeper.
It is possible that the path to the mines in the way file is of one type, and the road itself inside the mines is of a different type. Traffic approaches it, sees that it is prohibited from moving there, and turns around.

In reality, it's very difficult to create anything for this game due to the complex 3D-file formats (even though they're interesting).

I think so. And most importantly, the Gold Edition has 3 additional trucks that are not available in all other versions. But this is all about the edition from Cenega, because there are other "Gold editions" of this game.

Even identical files with exactly the same content are encrypted differently in different R'n'R versions. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The simplest fix for many bugs would be to simply take the exe from later versions of the game and install it over the Steam version, but this will not work because almost all game configuration and localization files have encryption that is different for each specific version of the game.
By the way, as far as I remember, the Steam version is similar to the release one. It is almost unplayable due to low performance and various bugs. The DLC versions are noticeably more stable and run much faster. The main thing is not to visit new locations that these DLC add :)
