but I suspect they have a very different problem space which I suspect I won’t appreciate as much. Anyways, usually don’t comment on posts but this was really really well done so I wanted to leave a note

This is one of the most awesome posts I’ve read in a while. Actually incredible. The motivation is so clear. I’ve never really been sold on atproto, I joined bsky because the community was better over here, but wow now I’m sold. Need to do more research on activitypub and friends to get perspective

Quite a long thread and I'll admit I've only skimmed it. I was once suspended from GitHub a few years back (for actual wrongdoing, it was my bad), and after sending an honest plea to GitHub support they reinstated my account. That's probably your best shot, unfortunately.

Every layer of review makes you 10x slower We’ve all heard of those network effect laws: the value of a network goes up with the square of the number of members. Or the cost of commun...

I read this interesting blog post recently that has a sane take on this, thought I would share:

Don't mean to get into a debate but Anthropic famously charges really high rates on their API compared to other model providers (Google, OpenAI, etc). This makes me lean towards believing that there is some truth to their statements.

GitHub - es-tooling/module-replacements: A manifest of JS modules and their more modern/active replacements A manifest of JS modules and their more modern/active replacements - es-tooling/module-replacements

Yeah! There's a nice package we use here: github.com/es-tooling/m.... It not only has the list of packages and their alternatives but sometimes even full markdown pages with tradeoffs.

The new website's page for the 'is-even' package, with a warning flagging it as unnecessary.

The new website's page for the 'is-even' package, with a warning flagging it as unnecessary.

The better npm site got warnings on packages that should be avoided yesterday.

Big thanks to the @e18e.dev community for making that easy!

Just saw that this picture is using llvmpipe – I assume one of the big blockers is no one reverse engineering the M3 gpu?

2 months ago 1 0 1 0

That's awesome! I heard a month or so ago that M3 was getting somewhere but I had no idea it would happen so fast. What were the missing components?

In this case, I suspect the answer is "humans are a lot less energy/water efficient per unit labor than claude code" (for the tasks that claude code can solve)

2 months ago 3 0 1 0

Thanks for the response! Not trying to say at all that "you didn't cover X", I really love your posts and wanted to hear your take. I think a fairer comparison for coding agents would be "how many human hours would it take to do the same and how much water/energy would that have required"
