Oh wow, I posted the wrong version of the video. The youtube version doesn't have that jump in it.

It's mist rather than smoke, but yes, it's blown through a honeycomb laminar nozzle thingy by a fan. There's a longer video coming soon. Lichen subscribe.
It's using a mechanically scanned pinhole rather than an array of lenses, and generating the full lightfield (not just horizontal).
You like videos of flickery low res displays that I assure you are 3D?
Here's a mechanically scanned lightfield.
Again.
I bought some cheap "Mitutoyo" calipers from AliExpress, and they're really good. The effort they put into making them convincing paid off. Would recommend.
A view from a hilltop in the morning sun; blue sky above, a layer of clouds below, mountains on the horizon. Another hill pokes through the clouds in the foreground. Wellington harbour patchily visible underneath.
Lovely morning in Wellington, if you're above 250m.
A closeup of a mirror element in my hand, consisting of a 4 by 2 grid of not quite square mirrors about 20mm across arranged at various angles.
It chops the image into 4x2 tiles, and distributes those around 180 degrees
Exactly that, yes. Projecting onto fog gives quite a directional image, so multi view just works without needing to do anything clever.
I’m still working on that
Trying to demonstrate that the 3D projection is an improvement over a normal fog screen, but 2D just looks better on video.
There’s a little array of mirrors in front of the projector dicing the image up into smaller frames, and a ring around the volume reflecting them back towards the middle. The scattering in the mist is very directional, and I’ve set it up so the different views naturally crossfade as you move.
Well, one projector and a bunch of mirrors, but otherwise...
It's the lady from the film
Yes!
When my dishwasher starts up, it plays the opening drone from The Final Countdown
Yes.
I'm having a go at A Princess Leia You Can Stick Your Hand Through.
Breaking out the swivelcam again.
A screenshot of a guardian article which Bluesky flagged as adult content. The article is about the generation gap, and is illustrated with a picture of a young woman / old man combination that looks startlingly like a bell end.
I see it too, algorithm.
My last foray into non-Raspberry SBCs, the software support consisted of a forum where people would be told to stop asking stupid questions by a guy named Igor.
I was just looking at this myself - particularly interested in DP Alt Mode, which is uncommon on an SBC.
Looking at a listing on AliExpress which describes some dark glasses as "anti radiation glasses". I mean, fair enough.
80% of my time spent using a node based editor consists of fuming at the concept of node based editors.
I can think of a number of ways it could have been worse.
Some good news for anyone depressed about the world right now: the kakapo are getting it onnnnn thespinoff.co.nz/science/13-0...
It is playable by the way. In the sense that you can move and fire, that is, not in the sense that it's at all *playable*.
Had another go at this - A more artificial setup, but easier to see what's going on.
I'm not planning to sell these, but I'm tempted to start selling cleaning cloths which apparently nobody's heard of.
