They're about the psychological impact of war more than war itself. But if war novels aren't your thing, then probably not for you. I love WWI novels, so they were pretty much written precisely for me.
I need to know, which novels?? Please tell me it's the Regeneration trilogy, because they're the BEST.
I'm looking forward to watching this tonight.
@oriharakaoru.bsky.social I keep refreshing the cruise page, apparently in the belief that'll make time pass faster. I still have an entirely separate holiday before the cruise!
I want to go back to Japan. But I also want to go to hundreds of places that I haven't been to even once. Why can't I be independently wealthy and travel wherever and whenever I want??? Money is wasted on the rich.
Oh! I love it! So pretty!
WHY AM I GETTING CHRISTMAS ADVERTS, TASKMASTER????
I've been rewatching old DVDs of Drop the Dead Donkey lately, the 90s sitcom set in a news room with topical jokes that were written just before recording (which happened the same week that Channel 4 aired it) and they started making Mandelson jokes about this stuff in *1998*.
Is that by Manning Coles? If so, at least the first one is available on Kobo Plus, and is now on my Kobo.
I deliberately got a 'bonded' pair so I could see them snuggle, and I get nothing. You threw two random cats together and get this. NOT FAIR, FRAN.
I've come to celebrate if they're both on my bed and not actively glaring at each other.
Also, it's kind of scratchy and just too long enough that I'm conscious of it but not quite worth paying for it to be shortened.
A woman in a long sparkly black dress.
I sadly have to accept that this dress is gorgeous, but not on me. It does not play well with my lumps and bumps. Sigh.
I thought it was only kids who were rude enough to forego headphones in public but, no, bloke in his sixties sitting next to me on the train, flipping through his gardening TikTok.
I'd bought some fancy frozen raw food for Poppy, towards the end of her life, but she died before she could eat it all. It's been taking up space in the freezer, so I gave some to the boys this morning. They inhaled it and are now round, snoozing blobs. They'd better not start refusing normal food.
I own some very cheap items of furniture that are over 25 years old and still going strong! (Shout out to IKEA Ivar.)
Oh, DAMN. That's gorgeous.
Fingers crossed!
I doooooo! Although they are about to stop delivering second class mail on a Saturday.
I'm not saying I have the best postie in the world but not only did she leave a complete, accurate, legible Sorry We Missed You card (while I was actually out) but she then popped back a few hours later to try a redelivery, and I was in! What a marvellous postie.
Putting white fabric on your lap makes a huge difference. Or a moderately dim torch.
Magrat WISHES!
I love it when Wimsey's sitting on my shoulder and tries to rub his face against my cheek but can't really reach, so ends up just hurling his whole self into my face. "Can't love you the right amount so guess I'll love you too much. *thunk*"
Thankfully there are two Bravissimo shops near me, so I'll go in with my dress and try on everything in store.
I ordered eight dresses to try on. Seven were for a specific need and one was Just Because. You can guess which one looks perfect and which seven are meh... Gonna try getting a plunge bra and some shapewear tomorrow and see if that improves things.
Oooh, yes! A chunky silver (or pewter?) necklace would look fantastic!
For the past two years, I've gone on a cruise for my birthday, but timings don't fit this year.
My employer gives you your birthday off, separate from your PTO, so, hell, yes. I generally took it off anyway. It's a day to sleep in, read or stitch for hours, and cuddle the cat.
Anne Hathaway will be AMAZING in this role. God, I hope it actually gets made.
