This event should be fun—even if tinged with much sadness. I'll be speaking with the title "If academia is a form of play, why can't it be more like surfing?"
Our last big hurrah before we're shut down.

In the magnificent Arts and Crafts setting of Toynbee Hall in Whitechapel. Complete with a proper institutional kitchen. The conference was on sound and silence.
I went to a conference where we sort of did this. There was a glass with paper slips, each with an instruction. Chop a bunch of parsley, slice a bowl of tomatoes etc. together, we made a Moroccan roast lamb and lots salads for c30 participants.
You are Jean-Claude Romand and I claim my £5.

Yes. V anti-philosophy. Doing this in the UK with my wife, we are always amused by its understandable US bias: lollygag, doodad, Mexican flora, things Hawaian. While it won’t accept many common Britishisms and will accept one term that is highly offensive here, but presumably not in US!
Apparently, “ontic” is not a word. @bonniehonig.bsky.social @annakornbluh.bsky.social
