The very conservative Rod Drehrer, who attended the Catholic baptism of JD Vance: “Not saying Trump is the Antichrist. But he’s radiating the spirit of Antichrist, no question.”

Just weird to see places with a mile long cocktail menu and no mocktails offered. Totally leaving money on the table!

A notable issue is that ACM volunteers on the Ethics and Plagiarism committee of the Publications Board have to sort through policy violation reports. There's an argument that their time is better spent focused on cases where there is an integrity problem, not a disclosure issue.

If the ACM stops requiring disclosure, we would of course still hold authors responsible for the content of their papers. It is not an excuse if errors are introduced by AI.

So apparently AI use (mostly undisclosed) is becoming ubiquitous in ACM paper submissions. I don't think this happens in my group so I was surprised to hear it. But if that's actually the case, perhaps requiring disclosure is pointless. Thoughts?

Why should women get all the attention? Here's some great men's fashion at the Oscars.

First up: Shaboozey - great detailing: pearls, brooch, watch, and check out the neck of the white shirt

Yes but the pharmacies at the hospitals also close! At least the ones I checked. I'm sure we could go to the emergency room, but it wasn't quite that level of urgency. Mainly we wanted to get Tamiflu as soon as possible so it could start being effective.

Dude, what happened to 24-hour pharmacies? It used to be they all competed on how many hours they are open. Now we need one for the first time in years and I can't find a single one anywhere in Pittsburgh!

Ok, I reported the bug. They are swamped with issues related to the new DL but hopefully they can get to it before too long.

Yes, it's annoying. I've seen it on one or two other sites too. But, it always goes away for me after 1-2 seconds. What is your platform and browser?

One of the true delights of paper reviewing is that you get to read about super creative and fun work before anyone else does! Feeling the PLDI vibes here....

Note from the editors:

ProPublica is publishing the names of the two federal immigration agents involved in the fatal shooting of Minnesota protester Alex Pretti. We believe there are few investigations that deserve more sunlight and public scrutiny than this one, in which two masked agents fired 10 shots at Pretti as he lay on the ground after being pepper-sprayed.

The Department of Justice said it is investigating the incident, but the names of the two agents have been withheld from Congress and from state and local law enforcement.

The policy of shielding officers’ identities, particularly after a public shooting, is a stark departure from standard law enforcement protocols, according to lawmakers, state attorneys general and former federal officials. Such secrecy, in our view, deprives the public of the most fundamental tool for accountability.

When Robert Rand, @hsenag.bsky.social, and I took our Open Access petition to ACM in 2020, we talked to CEO Vicki Hanson. Over the terms of 3 ACM presidents, Vicki shepherded ACM's transition to Open Access. I'm glad she saw it happen 20 days before she died.

Rest in peace, Vicki.

I keep seeing leftists from outside of Minneapolis say they’ve seen all this before, and no, you haven’t. I’ve been at this for 30+ years and I haven’t either. It’s not what you’re picturing. This is something else
