Oh man I absolutely love this art of Kamen Rider by Tan Zhi Hui

I had the pleasure of working with her and Jim Cummings as a pair of one-off villains in episode 8 of Telltale’s Minecraft series and she was devastatingly good at squeezing unexpected comedy into every single line delivery.
cuz like it's a joke

the profundity of this comment on a random thread about the obsequiousness of AI chatbots stopped me dead in my tracks
I remember playing point and click adventure games for weeks and just mulling over them all day at school when I got stuck. I remember having a eureka moment with Monkey Island 2 of some inventory combo I hadn't tried and writing it on my hand so I could rush home and try it.
These are all quotes from Frasier.
Yeah I find this to be a huge problem with writers who a) aren't thinking about their script as the blueprint for a *game*, b) don't want to spend the time/effort to collaborate with other disciplines, c) weren't *allowed* to collaborate with other disciplines, or d) combo of the above
For those curious, I made it using pika.page by the fine folks at @goodenough.us. They're awesome and I love their mission with PIKA so I'm happy to give them my dollarbucks.
I'm pretty burned out on social media with its likes and followers and metrics and subscribers and am really trying to get back to the joy of writing dumb stuff to put on the internet for the simple sake of doing it. Also I'm going to start using this for sharing my music finds instead of substack.
I've got a new dead-simple website and blog at www.ericstirpe.com as part of my transition back to what you might call the "slow internet."
amazing!! congrats to all involved!
I don’t think we quite appreciate how consequential Kotaku’s revitalization under new ownership, after being dragged to the absolute brink by Great Hill, is for the industry. It proves what many of us knew in our hearts; bad management is the beating heart of digital media’s woes.
Happy book day!!

To piggyback off this, what's your fave alternate name for Space Mutiny's Dave Ryder?
Mine is probably Big McLargeHuge
oh my god I was just thinking about this. looking at someone's curated letterboxd is way less fun than getting to quietly wonder why in the world they've got two copies of WAYNE'S WORLD 2 on DVD.
From “The Simpsons” house genius John Swartzwelder, interviewed in The New Yorker by Mike Sacks
I hate Al and I refuse to use it Peter, if you don't use Al a bunch of super rich men will lose a lot of money I already said I hated Al Harry, you don't need to sell it to me
I’m halfway through watching Twin Peaks S2 for the first time so I can finally watch Fire Walk With Me and The Return.
Boy when the Laura Palmer mystery ends the wheels really start to come off huh
Oh well very much yes please
feuds and team-ups. weird storylines that play out over years. big personalities who never seemed to actually do anything but talk. a whole economy of audience and commentary all turning the wheels and filling the pockets of big corporations high above it all.
quietly disassociating and thinking about the similarities between 2010s Game Dev Twitter and Pro Wrestling/Kayfabe Culture
Oh wow you’re right I have that swapped. Last of Us was 2013, TWD was 2012. Wild.
I’d actually argue it was a combo of that and Last Of Us six months earlier.
Yeah and all those game developers much be rich!
Here in Finland the coarse salt is called "flingsalt" and that's not relevant to the topic at hand but I'm eager to share that fact any opportunity.
gosh there is so very much to think about. can't wait to read your thoughts.
