Just yesterday, I found a 2018 academic paper that seemed to be misquoted in a 2024 paper. I looked up the quote from the 2024 paper and the search returned... You guessed it - the 2024 paper with that quote highlit. Because the quote didn't exist in the 2018 paper, which I read in its entirety.

Important study suggesting a link between teachers' use of language rich in strategy suggestions, metacognitive references, and discussion of memory and students' better self-regulated learning behavior growth across first and second grade. #PsychSciSky #AcademicSky #EduSky

“We bombed a school and killed all 100+ students inside because an AI chatbot said it was a military facility” is yet another true thing you can’t say to offline normies without sounding like a crazy person

One of the things that I think will puzzle future historians is how a man who inspired such fanatical cult-like loyalty also made no secret of the fact of his utter contempt for his fans and his total indifference to what happened to them.

they knew they could get away with it because they practiced all those times on the “narco-terrorist” boats, where they also killed the survivors, and nobody sent them to The Hague about it so they are running completely unchecked right now with full use of the arsenal. I do not know how this ends

I looked up recently what the success rate for LLMs tuned for doing accounting is because that’s an ideal use case and it was like below 70% which is super unacceptable, like if your accountant fucked up that much you’d go to prison.

Why Boys Are Behind in Reading at Every Age

Setting aside elementary curriculum & instruction for the moment, we've known for decades much of what it takes to encourage reading in and out of school by secondary students regardless of gender, and instead of doing this, we've plied them with edtech, apps, test prep, and devices they carry 24/7.

Teaching exercise that is helpful with my policy students. Based on the solution, hiring this fella to a fancy position and giving him $$$ in this environment, what is the root of skepticism with higher ed that Yale is attempting to solve? Whose skepticism do they seek to assuage?

Unfriendly reminder, AI is being used to destroy trust. Do not normalize the use of AI. AI can not reliably enhance videos or low-quality images.

This is the quiet replacement of reality. Do not let this be normalized.

I often say "who would want to be a higher ed Provost/President in today's climate?" I have known Brian a long time and can imagine the incredible value he and his colleagues bring to leadership development. This is the kind of support that seems essential for #highered leaders, today.

Ballots, tax returns and other important mail may not get postmarked the day you turn it in, Postal Service warns | CNN Politics If you rely on postmarks when casting your ballot, filing your taxes or paying bills, a new US Postal Service rule makes it clear that you should plan ahead.

Why isn't there more shouting about this? This is the USPS undermining mail-in ballots. They find every opportunity to subvert voting and democracy.

In 2026 let’s normalize masking for public health.

If we could admit that with healthcare being gutted, vaccine access restricted and previously eradicated diseases coming back… having an extra layer like a respirator makes good sense.

Let’s also normalize not mocking people who mask!

At Last, a Name for the Murderous Face in a Holocaust Photo

I’m not sure why AI is so prominent in this article since a historian did the lion’s share of the archival digging and AI simply verified what experts already confirmed.
