these are immensely self absorbed men who pine for nazi germany and apartheid south africa — stagnant, backwards regimes btw — because they imagine themselves the masters of the universe.

the tech fascists think they are so clever and smart but their entire worldview is just a bunch of stale apologetics for race hatred and fascism

A lion with a mic in front of him.

Thank you @edsbs.bsky.social for posting the video of the Lion on Romanian TV at a soccer game in 2000 on your IG and giving me this glorious screengrab.

Orbánism was, more or less, a model for what Trump and the Republican Party are trying to do in the United States. The Trump administration was so desperate to prevent Orbán’s defeat that it sent J. D. Vance to ask Hungarians to “stand for Western civilization” and “freedom, for truth and for the God of our fathers.” Few vice presidents have more consistently debased the office, to the point that most people hardly noticed that Vance had praised as godly a man who publicly condemned “race mixing.”

It's not the MOST pathetic thing Vance has done, but him going to Hungary to applaud man who condemned "race mixing" is absolutely wretched (🎁) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

Tbf there is also like several chapters where Sun Tzu says you don't actually have to do a war if there is no good reason for it and we threw that advice in the trash like it was a female officer

i can't help but think about 10 or 11 years ago when conservatives insisted that obama was uniquely anti-catholic because his administration thought that catholic-led orgs could just fill out a form if they didn't want to cover contraceptives in their health plans for employees.

We also instantly validated the entire leadership as heroes who stopped the Great Satan's unprovoked attacks and genocidal threats, the warriors who gave Iran control of the Strait with their steadfast determination and military prowess.

It's a crushing defeat on every level. Everything is worse.

This kind of clean slate is probably the only functional way to move this country forward. See below for this new immigration judge’s resume, which includes opposition to property taxes and COVID masks and an endorsement of wildly racist conspiracy theories

It is hard to capture what a sweeping strategic defeat the war in Iran has been for the United States. I’m going to thread here some of the posts today that try to capture those effects. Here’s the first:

Yeah so he is just going to keep doing the thing where we are in a constant state of uncertainty, confusion, stress, and tension because that is what abusive people do and the people who are in a position to address this are asleep at the switch.

2) Tells people what they want to hear so they’ll come away with a positive short-term impression
3) Unconcerned with the consequences of 1 & 2

A reliable metric for a losing war: notice how often a combatant describes inputs (ordinance dropped, resources committed, duration of operation) as a substitute for outputs (effects a military operation is intending to produce).

Why Is the New York Times Laundering the Reputation of a Sleazy AI Startup That's Selling GLP-1s via a Dishonest Dumpster Fire of Fake Doctors, Phony Before-and-After Pictures, and Other Glaring Red F... The New York Times ran a glowing profile of a company called Medvi that's using AI to sell GLP-1s. The truth is more complicated.

NEW: The NYT said that the AI-powered GLP-1 middleman startup Medvi — which is reportedly on track to do $1.8b in sales — cleaned up its act after taking deceptive marketing "shortcuts."

But it didn't.

More on: fake Medvi clients, fake doctors, and an FDA warning...
