Scrap the Bathroom Ban 🚨This is urgent🚨 Bridget Phillipson, the Minister for Women and Equalities, has a decision to make. The EHRC, a regulator mired in controversy over anti-trans views, has sent a new draft Code of…

Trans people should be go to work and have a loo they can use when they're there. Help us push back against these outdated rules and join the fight to protect trans workers.

Being outed isn't 'workplace gossip', it's unfair and it's unsafe.
Where unisex toilets don't exist, trans people might not be able to go to work at all - even workplaces that want to be inclusive are struggling to find the space and money to comply with this new interpretation of the regulations.

3 days ago 9 1 1 0

The High Court has said that most trans people cannot use toilets that reflect their lived gender. The result is that trans workers are being forced out of facilities that they've used for years, instead being pushed into third spaces. This outs people against their will.

3 days ago 5 0 1 0

Outdated workplace regulations are becoming tools of exclusion. Trans people are being sent home from their jobs, unsure when - or how - they can return.
Workplace regulations say that there should be "sufficient separate facilities for men and women", or self-contained gender neutral toilets.

A year under attack – and a year fighting back Jess O’Thomson and Jolyon Maugham reflect on what has happened in the year since the Supreme Court’s judgment, and how the trans community has courageously fought back

It's a year today since the Supreme Court decision on the meaning of "sex" under the Equality Act 2010.

Jolyon Maugham and I have written a reflective piece with our thoughts on the judgment, everything that has happened since, and why it's so important that we are still fighting - together 👇

Today marks one year since the Supreme Court’s For Women Scotland judgement. The Supreme Court told us its ruling would not remove rights from trans people, but it has caused confusion, discrimination and its decision is bleeding across into other legislation with devastating effects.

Statement on announcement of amended EHRC Code. The ruling and the draft Code of Practice both inspired institutional and vigilante harassment of cis and trans people based on their perceived gender. These are documented in our reports on Trans Segregation in Practice, A Community Living in Fear, and Access to Gendered Spaces.

Statement on announcement of amended EHRC Code. Bridget Phillipson’s claim that the Supreme Court ruling on the definition of sex in the Equality Act delivered ‘clarity’ is laughable. The ruling a year ago led to mass confusion, inspired disjointed and discriminatory policies, and created a workers rights crisis for trans people by causing trans people to be outed at work, with some prevented from doing their job at all.

Statement on announcement of amended EHRC Code. We are pleased that, in re-writing it, there has been some recognition of how discriminatory, authoritarian and unworkable the previous draft of the EHRC Code of Practice was. However once again trans people's fates are being decided behind closed doors without us having any say.

We want to hear from all workers who can speak to changes your employer has made to their policies or practices related to trans inclusion following the Supreme Court judgment.

While the High Court dismissed trans workers’ concerns about privacy and outing as mere ‘gossip at work’, we know there will be real ramifications of forcing trans people to suddenly start using different facilities than those they have always used.

- at great cost to employers and at even greater cost to trans workers, some of whom have already been forced to leave their jobs.
