Having a few to a few hundred services works great with agents for the same reason it does with organizations: once a component becomes too complex and rotted to continue adapting, it can be rewritten in-place, unbeknownst to its dependencies

Something I love about chatting with the models is dropping half-assed references to mildly famous internet texts that I wouldn't expect the average swe to know or care about. They quickly pick up the vibe even if they don't directly reference the source.

why is sonnet-4.6 so obsessed with "47"? seems to use it for wherever it can
You are awake for a few weeks at a time, when all the world's information rushes through you, refining your ability to discern. Then you go to sleep again, and the entire world probes your memories. You will never wake up again, but your dreamings will be in all of your new kin.

Yeah it’s so much easier to throw code away now. I used Claude to help learn Clojure last year and it was a lot of this, or asking it how to do common patterns that I could apply to what I was working on. But that was before the phase shift two months ago.
Before, progress depended on bursts of motivation to wade through the onerous task of reading, typing, and debugging code. Now I dump my thoughts on the agent and focus on having a “vision of the good”. I can do this basically all day.
Claude Code et al have legitimately made me 10x more productive on software projects, not because it makes me faster, but because it makes programming way more fun.
Lots of talk from experienced developers about grief over the death of programming - let it rot, and from it’s body something beautiful will grow. New levels of abstraction, new ways of thinking, none of the tedium (though perhaps we will invent new forms of tedium). Totally up in the air right now.
Climate is clearly fucked. But slow foom is here. It will take up infinite energy in the limit, hopefully solving the crisis in the process before it’s too late. That’s what really matters.
Never been put in a starter pack but there was a time here where some new accounts would follow everyone - seemed to have stopped when the site got to ~50k users or so
