Staff cuts forced this forecast office to shut overnight. Then, a tornado hit. The Jackson, Kentucky office is one of a growing number of forecast offices unable to cover an overnight shift since the Trump administration cut staffing levels through buyouts and firings.

Okay, folks, remember the plan -- cripple the NWS so that Americans clamor for more accurate forecasts which will be provided by for-profit friends of Trump.

Last night my friends and I were clicking on random parts of the world to watch the spotlights on snap. At the end we ended up at looking at Gaza. It’s something I can’t stop thinking about. It feels disgusting to live in a world like this.

This is genuinely so tragic and the perfect example of how these things affect advancement of science. (Which in turn, affects all of us.) No one should be forced to feel like they can’t publish science out of fear of losing their entire livelihood.
