The Supreme Court long relied on careful, time-tested procedures to issue decisions. But secret memos by the justices, obtained by The New York Times, show how the court decided to bypass those procedures and create its modern “shadow docket.” See key takeaways: www.nytimes.com/2026/04/18/u...

At some point this week, I started a new TextEdit file, typed "Everyone knows that " (with a space at the end), and then... never finished that thought? This is gonna haunt me for years

From Clickhole's "Incredible! We Asked These Astronauts What It’s Like To Be In Space," Barry Wilmore: You never know true beauty until you see Earth from space, or true terror until you hear someone knocking on the space station door from outside. You look through the porthole and see an astronaut, but all your crew is inside and accounted for. You use the comm to ask who it is and he says he’s Ramirez returning from a repair mission, but Ramirez is sitting right next to you in the command module and he’s just as confused as you are. When you tell the guy this over the radio he starts banging on the door louder and harder, begging you to let him in, saying he’s the real Ramirez. Meanwhile, the Ramirez inside with you is pleading to keep the airlock shut. It really puts life on Earth into perspective.

Run The Jewels vs. Gorillaz Mixtape
Run The Jewels vs. Gorillaz Mixtape YouTube video by Dee Jay Park

Today the YouTube rec algorithm did VERY good indeed. Run the Jewels vs. Gorillaz Mixtape www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmGV...

(Not enough Damon, but that's a very small gripe given I've already listened to this whole mixtape twice)

For $200 more, you can get a MacBook Air Joanna Stern talks Apple’s most imitated product.

I love my current era MacBook Air, but this piece from @theverge.com and @joannastern.bsky.social reminded me of how great the 2010s version of the laptop was.

I even had two of them … because we couldn’t stop accidentally knocking drinks over onto their keyboards … www.theverge.com/tech/901698/...

I'm just saying it'd be the funniest thing for LaserWriter II to crack the top 10.

Hey, my first game, a surreal visual novel set in a near-apocalyptic Texas, is on sale for 25% off. In 2026 it is cheaper than like half a burrito. You should get it, so that I can keep making cool stuff for you.

Couple things here:

1. What the fuck
2. I am allllllmost more offended by the suggestion that I would give this shitbox edit than having my identity stolen
3. The CEO is scheduled to be on Decoder soon and we will see if they back out!

Bullet Train is loud, funny, violent, beautifully crafted, and utterly bonkers. I adore it Sometimes you just want to watch a great dumb fun movie over and over, and that's totally OK.

DDR is the community where I made my first real gay friends, where I met a Trans person for the first time. A game I fell into out of a deep love of techno and house music that eventually taught me about found families and vibrant communities

We also had HEATED RIVALRY on the short list, but that really good hockey show happened, so we went with the original title.

Ash Parrish

Breaks my heart to share this, but today is my last day at The Verge and I am looking for work! I'd really like to stay in video games, preferably in some kind of journalistic capacity but I can do PR/Marketing and maybe even a lil Narrative Design. Please get in touch!
