Breaking: HHS’s ban on gender-affirming care is struck down. Rarely have I read a ruling this sharply worded.
“This case is one of a long list of examples of how a leader’s wanton disregard for the rule of law causes very real harm to very real people.”

"John Apple" just doesn't hit like "Tim Apple"
NEW: How exactly has Alex Jones avoided paying the Sandy Hook families a single dime of what he owes? I wrote about it here, and spoke to Chris Mattei, an attorney for some of the families, and Lenny Pozner, the father of the youngest child who died at Sandy Hook: www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
Don't know that I fully buy the idea that detailed movie descriptions + transcribed dialog are the same thing as illegal adaptations, but do think that the way people chase engagement by posting spoilers has gotten out of hand
After 35 years and a few hours of being badgered with banana ball videos by my kid cousins, I finally understand baseball’s conceptual appeal

Wrote about why the AI Lego about the Iran War videos are resonating with people in ways that the White House's shitpost memes simply can't
This infuriating attitude shows up on the bookshelves in learning environments, too. We expect girls to empathize with boys, but we kneecap every opportunity to let boys empathize with girls. And look where we are.
Talked to the The Miniature Wife's VFX head about why they didn't want to lean on generative AI for the show's visuals, and how they used practical sets / in-camera shenanigans to turn Elizabeth Banks into a tiny person

The boy kibble discourse is just as tiring as the golden retriever boyfriend discourse, which is to say: dog people have had an exhausting and outsized influence on the way people think and talk about each other
To ease viewers into the show’s fantasy and its dark sense of humor, Bernes thought that it was important for Lindy’s dollhouse to be a fully realized set that Banks could physically interact with. And while VFX would be necessary to depict characters’ size differences, Bernes was keen on keeping the series from feeling like too much of a “CGI Fridays” situation. “When we’re inside the dollhouse, that is a real set that we built based on the dimensions and specs of a real toy,” Bernes told me. “We actually scanned objects from a real dollhouse, blew them up into a larger scale, and then had them made so that we could use life-size versions of these tiny things.”
"CGI Fridays" slowly, but surely becoming my favorite new vocal stim

New: 150 unionized ProPublica workers are on strike TODAY over AI, layoff protections, wages, and more.
They're asking readers to not visit ProPublica or engage with content on other platforms. It's the first work stoppage of its kind at the newsroom.
