Every moment of inaction costs more lives and deepens the horrors civilians are facing.
This is precisely the enduring logic of colonialism that Frantz Fanon warned us about, where surrender is mistaken for peace. Concessions without justice only prolong oppression.
I realize that I’m writing this from the comfort of a safe home, under a missile-free sky, with a fully stocked fridge and smooth access to medical care. A deal which lacks any accountability mechanisms is a license for war crimes and genocide.
I’m not so sure this time. The Gulf countries are genuinely stunned, particularly as they see Israel as operating without any constraints. That is unnerving and creates real concern about their security relationship with the U.S.
A brief timeline:
7 Sept: Trump presents a new ceasefire proposal, warning Hamas this is their “last chance.”
8 Sept: Gideon Saar announces Israel has accepted the proposal.
9 Sept: IDF carries out an airstrike in Doha, killing senior Hamas negotiators while they were reviewing the proposal.

The human species is literally failing itself. Who would have thought the living could envy the dead?
Gaza is in famine. A man-made, deliberate, and calculated disaster. A genocide. Or call it what you will. Yaani while we debate the correct use of legal terminology, while politicians, bureaucrats, and clout chasers play God, some humans are deemed disposable.
Gaza is in famine. Half a million people starving. Children dying of hunger in a place where food and medicine are deliberately blocked. How did we reach this point? Because some lives are treated as if they don’t matter. Because the world tosses around numbers of entire family lines erased.
