Hello.
The newsletter is back! It's now called The Broad Street Bulletin.
The first post, where you can read all about it, is here: www.broadstbulletin.com/p/welcome-to...
There's a friction point. I can't remember where it sits now.
In TC/OTAs, has to be watching for signs that he will need to have a plan b ready to go. Knowing what the historical miss signals were is helpful. Don't want to have a Danny Watkins "oh shit he's terrible now what go get Kyle DeVan" situation.
Offset language is typically the big thing in the first round, percent guarantees in later rounds. Bust history is really the best incentive to negotiate well there.
Shouldn't we ensure that he worry about it with each OTA / training camp performance, and each rookie contract negotiation? I mean, I will give him mid June to mid July off, but no more.
Yeah, but also Kristian Campbell feels pretty good about all the money he locked in after being Rookie of the Month in April 2025.
I don't know. Let's imagine you moved when you were 13 and so while you stayed loyal to your childhood team, you have a soft spot for the team in your new city because you liked your neigbors.
Point being, tanking is kind of a problem, but mostly because it almost never actually solves your problem; sometimes, it can even make winning harder even with success as sometimes it's hard to develop and build around a guy like that.
Since '00, top 5 picks to win a ring with their original team are Duncan, D. Wade, Kyrie, T. Thompson, Wiseman, Tatum & Brown, and Chet Holmgren. Only 3 were best player on the team, and both C's picks were acquired from Nets, not own tanking. Lottery can help; trades/FA/great later picks help more.
Once upon a time, the Pirates had a great player who they could have clung to, but insisted pushed until he insisted on leaving as soon as possible…..
Guinness stew with whiz
I would have attributed that to Philadelphia more than Irish heritage, but at some point, it’s semantics.
I like the way Schefter is thinking, it is always safest to blame the Cowboys for everything.
I honestly believe that when you are down to quibbling about which 1st rounder it is, the deal is essentially done.
Probably the Eagles. The Pats are ahead of schedule.
As a Red Sox fan, I can confirm that he would frequently get himself knocked out of the game forthwith.
I also think that "withdrew his name" is often code for "didn't get a second interview".
Robert Kraft not making the Hall of Fame is fine. And it happens every year! the bar for an owner to make it should be ludicrously high like changing the sport.
(No, Jerry Jones shouldn't have made it either)

Moment of silence for @dhm.bsky.social before the Sixers game tonight
In 2012, Philly.(com) hosted a happy hour for local bloggers. I didn’t know anyone, but everyone there knew everyone else. Maybe Dan sensed that (?), so he shot the shit w/me & introduced me to some others including the sports editor who eventually gave me my first big break. He was the nicest dude.
We've revived the long-gone video that McQuade took of Hannibal Buress back in 2014, the video that literally changed history.
Why, does this letter that you have specifically mention the Gestapo. Let's see
Will never forget the "promotion" of James Urban from QB Coach to "assistant offensive coordinator" when actually he was fired.
Not to be that guy, but Google uses your prior search history data when coming up with autocomplete. "Jewish" isn't part of my autocomplete terms for Tom Nook.
Andy Reid wasn't asked to call plays for a Super Bowl caliber team until year 3, and also had support from an OC who did have play calling experience at the NFL level. That's not where we think we are.
They don't need mere competence. They need someone innovative and risk-taking.
Even setting declining roster quality aside, the issue many of us have had with the offense for years is it feels like by using a vanilla system, they're underperforming their talent. It seems clear to me that they need someone to think creatively to maximize the talent that is actually on the team.
While it made it as far as dress rehearsal, Tommy Brennan's Weekend Update desk bit on Trump's ICE deployments in his home state of Minnesota did not make it to SNL broadcast.
But they've made it available anyway. And you should watch it.
