During each week of Advent we have hearty snacks after worship instead of our monthly fellowship meal, and we really need a better name than “Advent Hearty Snacks.”
Going to propose “Quiche on Earth” …

Sin takes you prisoner, but the Savior sets you free. Good news for POWs of sin looking for a Warrior-Savior to rescue them.

Advent reminds us that, in the words of Marshwiggle Puddleglum, “setting out in the dark to spend our lives looking for Overland” isn’t a fool’s errand but the life of faith. Sin makes us fools, but the Wonderful Counselor makes us wise unto salvation.

in one the hearts of all mankind.
Bid all our sad divisions cease
and be yourself our King of Peace.”

In Deut. 6&7, Moses is concerned Israel will fall away from the Lord: by growing comfortable in luxury, by bowing to other idols, and by failing to pass along the faith to their children. Parents, a great task stands before us. Get up and get ready for church, bring your kids, and worship with them!

"A godly person observed that Christians are usually to blame for three things:
• they seek in themselves what they can only find in Christ
• they seek in the law what will only be found in the gospel
• they seek on earth what will only be enjoyed in heaven”
—Thomas Manton
“The Law is the key that shuts up all men under condemnation, and the Gospel is the key which opens the door and lets them out.”

My wife won’t watch my sci-fi either.
Post you from a different era.
Binge watched it during Summer Greek at WSC. It’s amazing.
Hahaha
Pastors, preach the grace of Christ and the love of God whether or not it builds your congregation. There are other ways to grow a church, but most of them will not last into eternity.
“Excellent! Let’s make some LSD!”
Name a show you’re positive no one remembers but you.
I was very tempted to do this, but I would like to preach through Revelation sometime soon.
Dug up an old post on another site where @jjn77.bsky.social said he preached gold, frankincense and myrrh, that was pretty clever. But what was week four?
Preachers: in the interest of a little R&D ("rob & deliver"), what, if anything, are you preaching for Advent this year?
“A pastor with children at home needs a weekly day when family comes first, and they know it.”

Oh, so like Raygun-cool pcaga
Are we really moving #PCAGA over here?
DRD is good on anything, including Daniel. I also leaned on Steinmann, but that one’s not cheap.
I also only preached Daniel 1-6, the narrative portion.
Greidanus, with the added + of a good set of paths for getting to Christ from any passage.
Bilbo Baggins in The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) saying "I am old, Gandalf. I know I don't look it but I'm beginning to feel it in my heart."
