Trophy Phishing by hired divas FISH THE SEAS OF DATA (Made for Discmaster Jam, April 2025)

about a year ago @hireddivas.bsky.social made a game using files found in the internet archive's discmaster search engine, and I made the soundtrack w/ discmaster files.

It's beautifully low poly. It's cursed. It's 90s. It won two awards, why not check it out?

I think I've figured it out -

activities based on the game show 底ぬけ脱線ゲーム is what was actually happening at Daicon IV. The pictures confirm it.

底抜けダイコンゲーム or 大根抜き are the same children's game - look them up! - and the original author of the translated article mistakenly called it this

Poster with a black and white photograph of a group protesting animal research. The caption above them says, sarcastically, "thanks to animal research, they'll be able to protest 23.5 years longer". The small caption below the photo says "according to the us dept of hhs, animal research has helped extend our life expectancy by 23.5 years. Of course, how you want to spend those extra years is up to you". Paid for by the foundation for biomedical research

Another poster of a black and white photo. This one has some scary looking guys in ski masks and work wear carrying axes and other tools. The caption reads "some people think the best way to protect animal life is to make scientists fear for theirs." Then in small print "violent crime committed in the name of animal rights threatens life saving medical research. These acts of domestic terrorism divert millions of research dollars into rebuilding labs, adding security, and protecting scientists and their families. Tragically, the ultimate price is paid by the sick and dying waiting for a cure".

Was recently reminded of these pro-animal testing posters in the building where I did some of my graduate research, the same building that probably gave people cancer in the 1970s because of ventilation issues with its animal research facility.
